TGIF ~ July 28, 2006

Ok, it's been a few days... Only because I haven't had much to say. I still don't. Today, I just wanted to put this picture of my flowers on my blog. (The ceramic dog's name is Harley.)

If you hadn't read my blog recently, then check out the one before this one. There is a funny picture of the youth / associate minister at my church.

Anyway, for those who knew about the business I was trying to aquire... well, it's not going to happen. The owner wants $10k down. & I don't know anyone who would lend me that or even co-sign on a loan for me... so, that was the "big door" that needed to be closed or opened... & God told me this is not where he wanted me by SLAMMING the door! I did tell the owner if he changes his mind (when he doesn't sell it in a few months) to give me a call, to see I'm still willing to do a lease agreement. I have a hunch I may here from him come October or so.

God has His reasons as to why that opportunity was even presented to me. I think a lot has to do with, the fact it was to help pull me out of my depression. It gave me something to focus on. I have to say, if that is why, then God's timing is always perfect! Now, I just have to keep on, keeping on. (So to speak! LOL)

Wow, I guess I did have something to say. LOL

Hi! Here I am again... so soon you say? LOL...  I just had to share this photo... this is our associate / youth minister, Scott Williams. He had lost a challenge to the kids. He said if they brought in over $300 for one of our missions, he'd dye his hear blue & get a mohawk. & if they went over $350, he'd let 5 kids throw whip cream pies at him. They brought in almost $400, & well... you can see the results... & this was just after church today. What a GREAT sport you are Scott!!! Thanks Kids!  (See more photos in the LCC Photos album... to the right of this blog on the front page.)

Not much else going on. Dave went on a Progressive Dinner Ride & brought me home my dinner. (I was supposed to go, but my knees are acting up... & I didn't want to be on a 450lb motorcycle, if they tried to "give out".) Thanks to all who cooked & for sending some home with Dave... It was DELICIOUS!

Can you believe I'm actually up this early ... & working on the computer no less!!  Well, I had to get up to finish packing Dave's lunch. Besides, I'm trying to get myself back on a normal schedule.

Well, I guess that needs an explanation. For those who don't know, I've been off work since May 5th... on short term disability. It's a long story, but I'm not hurt... physically that is. I am getting better... only took 3 months to start to come around! (The right meds will do that! LOL) Anyway, I still have a long road ahead of me. Especially with trying to figure out how early I can take my meds... you see, they put me to sleep (along with other things)... but for some reason, it's never consistant. Neither is how long I stay asleep... HOWEVER... it is SOLID sleep!! It feels good... VERY GOOD... & it's been years since I've had such solid sleep. Now if we can only do something about Dave's snoring. LOL  (TMI?? (too much info?) LOL)

Well, I don't want to blab too much. Just wanted to let you all know I'm doing ok... as best as I can for now!

Hi All!!!  Sorry it's been a while. I have been sick all week. (Bronchititus, sp?)

Dave is home from Daytona Bike Weeks!  The picture attached to this blog is the Sunrise from his hotel room.

I'M HOME!!! Finally!!!  Whew! what a trip!  (Been home since Friday 5:46a is when plane landed.)

Ok all, I think this may be my last post... MAYBE!! (Just depends on how all things go!!)

Pic included with this entry is of an eagle on the side of a hill right near Cal-Poly. Dad thinks the students (when not sure) put it up there. Not sure why. Maybe I'll have to do some research to find out.

Anyway, the sunset was from last night. Gorgeous, isn't?? Well, remember how I mentioned about the "green flash / spark" & we saw it on Tuesday night? Well... I saw it AGAIN last night!!  It's a VERY RARE to begin with... but to see it TWICE is even more rare!!

Well, I have to get things packed up now, to make my way back to Snowy Ohio.  LOL

So, if I have time, I'll blog again.

Ok, one more before I go to bed. (By the way, this is the latest I have been up all week!! It's 8:34p here now.)

Any hoo... the pic with this blog is from inside the steak place we were treated tonight. Isn't the view gorgeous???   I have more pics in the album... Take a look & let me know what you think.

OH... Have you ever heard of the "green flash" or "green spark" when the sun is setting on the ocean?? Well, Dad says he always thought it was a myth until one time a few years ago he saw it with a friend... Well, he was telling us (his friends & I) & so we watch (& I took a video of the sunset at that time)... SO, anyway, I SAW THE GREEN FLASH!!!  It was just a brief moment... if you blink you miss it! It was weird I saw it & was thinking, was that it... because from inside it wasn't quite green... but I could tell it might be. Anyway, just as I was thinking it, Dad said "did you see it?" & his buddy is saying yes...

So, I turn around & said... I got video of it... However, you really can't see it that well... you have to be looking really close to see it. At least I think you can see it on the video... You'll have to be the judge... but I'm not sure how to get it so you all can see it.

Moving on... this place Dad's friends took us to is called F. McKlintok's (sp?) & I'll tell you... It's better than Brown Derby, Logan's, or even Outback!!! EVERYTHING was FANTASTIC!!!

Get this... dessert is included in the price of the meal. (Only ice cream... but still great!)

I had a 8oz Top Sirloin, while the rest got a Small Filet Mignons. OH, let me back up... When you sit down they give you a basket of Onion Rings... MAN THEY ARE THE BEST EVER!! Then you get a salad (good, nothing out of the ordinary there... except it was very tasty.)... As you're thinking they forgot about you, they bring out your steak... along with (for every meal) season potatoes (very very good!) & bbq baked beans & grilled toast. The beans were not bad, I just didn't like the sauce. But that's just my taste.

When my steak came out, it was extremely rare... but they cooked a little more & it was heavenly!!! Oh & they actually got my well done grilled onions perfect on the first time! (That's very rare!!)

Then came dessert, as mentioned, just ice cream... but very tasty!!!

Before we left, we stopped at the gift shop. I got a couple items. Couldn't resist.

Ok, that's all for now... I am not getting sleepy... & a bit chilled... it's a cool 45 degrees! (LOL  ... I know it's brrr 20 degrees there!) Jealous yet?

2nd one for February 28, 2006

Hi ya all! Staying warm?? It's nice today! (The picture is of Morro Bay Rock from the Pacific Ocean. I have several of these in the album, because I was trying to get a picture with the waves hitting the rocks. This one, I sort of got it. Still looks cool!!)

So far I have gone RC Flying & Sailing... & today we flew (& crashed) planes on a flight simulator on one of Dad's friend's computer.

What I've had for meals so far: Home made tacos (with ground chicken of all things. Real good!), made by other friends of my dad's.

Also, Dad has made his infamous Beef Stroganoff; Biscuits & Gravy & Potatoe Pancakes. (All scrumptious!!)

Dad took me to China Dragon on Saturday night, & last night his neighbors treated us to Taco Temple. (Unusual Tacos... made with Pork that was marinated over night in Chili Powder; Lime & other seasons  I don't remember. It's called "Chiquita's" (no not the bananna! LOL)

And tonight some other friends of his, is taking us to "McClintock's" (sp?). They're supposed to have really great steak. & Large portions. Sounds like Brown Derby or Outback to me. I'll let you know on that later.

Oh, I almost forgot, I made a batch of my chocolate chip cookies & everyone is raving about them!!! :)

Well, I think that basically updates you all on what's going on.

I guess tomorrow Dad is going to take me souviner (sp?) shopping on the Embarcadaro. I guess there is a place that has t-shirts real cheep. & I'll be taking some more pictures... it's supposed to be real nice tomorrow. (But not so nice on Thursday. Please pray I don't get fogged in again... Since my flight doesn't take off until 9:00 Thursday night.)

Hello again from California! The picture above is of the "Morro Bay Rock". This is just down the road from where Dad is.

Well, it's been a good trip so far. Not very warm as you might think for California. The wind was very strong & cold yesterday!

As for my trip out here... it was quite exciting. (Well, it was interersting to say the least. LOL)

The flight from Columbus to Vegas was very rough for at least the 1st hour. & Then it smoothed out, but it was so cramped, I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep.

So, needless to say, I am still on Ohio time (& it's Tuesday already!) I guess that's ok, because then I shouldn't have too much of a problem when I go back. Well, maybe, maybe not! LOL

I am uploading some more pics right now. They'll be in another folder. ("From California") These are pics while I'm here. The folder labeled "Trip to California" are from my travel to here. (Such as from the plane & etc. Just look at the names on the pics, & you'll get it! LOL)

Anyway, back to the trip out here...

I get to Vegas & all is good. I ended up going back & forth between terminal A&B just to figure out where things were (such as food & souvineirs & etc). I had 2+ hours to kill... so I didn't worry about it.

I went to get something to eat (an $8 sub! YIKES!!) & by the time I got back to my gate again, my flight was canceled! ARGH!!!

It was cancelled due to fog. I guess the whole California west coast was fogged in. Dad said it was pretty dense.

Soooo. I go & get rescheduled for a flight the next morning. They did extend my trip by one day, without extra charge. Which is good! :) So, instead of being home early Thursday morning, I won't be back until early Friday morning.

Anyway, I asked if they'd put us up in a hotel... they said no, but would give us (us as in me & the other passengers. LOL) a voucher to give a discount.

I endend up staying at the Embassy Suites on Cameron Ave. for $65 (includes tax). However, I found out the next day another couple does not believe they were charged for theirs, because they were never asked for a credit card & when they checked out they were told "it's taken care of." (I guess the hotel they stayed at took copies of their tickets & etc... So, I may try to see if I can get the airlines to pay me back for my hotel stay.) Oh & another passenger, I found out, slept at the airport. Had I known I was aloud to do that... I would have. But oh well... I at least got out & "saw Las Vegas".

Speaking of. I went & got checked into my hotel & decided to go see the fountain show at the Belagio... well, after a $9 taxi ride (which is not very far!!) I was told the show shuts down at Midnight! NO ONE TOLD ME THAT!!! I was SO SO bummed! That was the only reason I was willing to spend the money for a taxi.

Well, I decided to walk around. I got a bunch of pictures (which have already been uploaded here.) & I gambled a little. A LITTLE!! Nope, I didn't win anything!

Oh, yeah, I finally decided it was time to go back to the hotel, when I put $1 into a slot machine & "bet 5" thinking it was a nickel machine... & it was a quarter machine... So, I only got one play on that & it did not result in anything. Yep, was out of it by then!

Went back to the hotel & got maybe 10 to 30 minutes sleep... it was about 3:30 when I got back & my wake up call was at 4:30 to be on the 5:00 shuttle.

So, of course I was very tired by the time I reached San Luis Obispo.

BUT Wait... that's not the end of the story...

I get back to McCaraon (sp?) Airport & what a sunrise. (see pics)  So, get this, to get to San Luis Obispo, I have to go to Phoenix 1st. GO FIGURE!! Go east 1st & then back west!!!

So, I get to Phoenix & find my gate. Then I go & get some food. (Oh, yeah, I guess since 9-11 there is no meals on any of the flights any more. At least not on this airline.)

So, I am sitting there eating some TCBY (VERY GOOD!!) & about 45 minutes before we're to start boarding... they delay the flight! Still foggy in Ca!

Well, I decided to go get some breadsticks from the Pizza Hut Express right near my gate. I get back  & they said... "Ok, we're on time now!"

I scarf down my breadsticks just as they call my zone to board.

Finally! On the way! That was the smoothest flight out of all them. & It was a little puddle jumper. (I think I have a pic of it in the album.)

So, I get here & I was EXHAUSTED!!! We (Dad & I) get back to his trailer & I take a couple hour nap & then a shower (because I didn't get one in the a.m. because my suitcases stayed at the airport.) & then I felt a bit better.

However, I was in bed by 7p.m. (California time) & then I awoke (like today) just after 4a.m.!! I guess I AM still on Ohio time! LOL

Well, we've done a lot already since I've been here. But more on that later. My dad needs the computer now that he's awake.

It's now 7:00a & 55 degrees... Jealous?? LOL Well, it's going to be up to 63 today & looks like tomorrow will be even better.

Hello from SUNNY CALIFORNIA!!! :)

Well I finally made it here! After 36 hours, 1 cancelled flight & 1 flight almost delayed, but then arrived 5 minutes early!!

I'll post some more later.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile... just hadn't felt like getting on the computer after work. & I've been busy on the weekends.

Anyway, go take a gander at my pictures of my trip to California... Keep in mind this is just on my way out here!!! LOL

By the way, the Vegas pictures were only possible due to the fact that my flight to San Luis Obispo, Ca was cancelled due to fog. (More on all that in my next posting.)

Later all & for those of you in Ohio... It's going to be up to over 60 today!! HA HA!!!
