Aqua Dots RECALL - 11-08-07...

I can't get over how many toy recalls there have been in the past 3 months. If this keeps up, what are we going to do for Christmas?

Though my son & step kids are older, I do have a niece & 3 nephews (hubby's brother's kids) to get cool Christmas gifts for... And I had seen Aqua Dots on tv the other day & thought it might be fun for the Morgan & the Twins. (3rd nephew just turned 1!) Well, that idea has now been shot down!!

Last night on the local news (News Net 5) announced that this toy may laced with a "date rape" drug.

The article I linked above shows it is NOT just America that is affected by this recall... but also Australia.

One lady on the news last night feels she & her kids are sick from just handling the dots. It is known that if ingested, could possibly be fatal. I looked up Aqua Dots to see if you are supposed to eat your creations, but I didn't see anything as to such.

In my search I cam across this article from a local news source out of Canada in which it does mention the chemical is in the coating of the dots. In spite of that,  no where have I seen that handling this toy would cause a problem.

To be on the safe side, I highly recommend using gloves or baggies to pick up any parts & put them in a bag & take them back to the store where purchased. (Or call the 800 # from this news story.)

So, I guess we all will have to do some research BEFORE buying Christmas gifts for the kiddies.
