Christmas "Getting to know you!"

Thanks to Kanga, for posting this... Feel free to yoink the questions for your blog! If you do, be sure to leave a comment so we all can go read them!! :)

#1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Usually it's wrapping paper... unless it's something I forgot to wrap... then it's not a gift bag, but either a Harley or grocery bag... cheap, I know... but fast!

#2. Real tree or artificial?   Artificial.  We have hot water boiler heat that makes are house extremely dry... & we have dogs...  one that runs around the living room that I'd be scared of him running into the tree... or even worse yet eating the needles!

#3. When do you put up the tree? Usually the day after Thanksgiving... This year it went up this past Saturday.

#4. When do you take the tree down?  I try to the week after January 1st. (Any longer hubby starts to gripe!) Though the outdoor lights stay up until a nice warm day! But I don't turn them on after the 1st week of the New Year.

#5. Do you like eggnog?  I do not, but my hubby does... so I will bye 1/2 a gallon, if we have the $$$. I'd rather have HOT CHOCOLATE!!

#7. Do you have a nativity scene? I wish I did! Especially this year, because now I have a little tree & I think a nativity scene would go perfect under it.

#8. Hardest person to buy for? My hubby. It's hard to either surprise him... and or please. This year, it will be hard to buy for ALL, because we are BROKE!!

#9. Easiest person to buy for? My Grandma... I usually get her a little jelly set from Wal-Mart & she's tickled!

#10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?  Oh.. this is bad... of me... it was a Cabbage Patch doll & it was after someone else had opened theirs & I said "Oh, I hate them!" Then it was my turn to open... & oh by I felt terrible when I saw I too got the same doll... not because I got one too... but because I voice my opinion aloud.  That was the last time I've ever made a derogatory comment about someone else's gift! Lesson learned! (& at a young age!)

#11. Mail or email Christmas cards? I love to receive BOTH  ... as long as it's not a "spam"! That just takes the fun out of it! To give... This year, more than likely it will be email... again, no $$$$.

#12. Favorite Christmas Movie? The Grinch (cartoon version) & Chevy Chase's National Lampoon Christmas. (Hubby & I both love hearing Chevy's rant... "...Where's the Tylenol?!?"

#13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I usually try to start looking in September... but not specifically until after Thanksgiving. But this year, without me not bringing in any $$$ I am at the mercy of my hubby's wallet! SERIOUSLY!!

#14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?  Only for our "White Christmas gift exchange" at our H.O.G. Christmas party... Because we're instructed not to buy anything... but get rid of something we don't need or want. (Which reminds me... I need to go search because this Saturday is our party!!!)

#15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?  Fudge... Chocolate - Peanut Butter... my Grandpa T's recipe... which since he's past on... I'm the "Fudge Maker" in our house! (Ok, now I am getting a craving for it!!)

#16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? This year they are multi-colored... last year it was pink. Though I have clear lights on the pine (fake) roping on the banister going up stairs & on the living room door arch.

#17. Favorite Christmas song?  Hmm... tough decision... if it's to listen to, it would be Johnny Mathis' "Sleigh Ride", "Winter Wonderland" & "Oh Holy Night"... and the Peanuts one where Snoopy dances to... I think it's called "Linus & Lucy" To sing it's "Angels We've Heard On High"... no contest there!

#18. Travel or stay at home for Christmas? What makes it travel? I love going to my mother-in-law's on Christmas night... & watch hubby & his brother having a Christmas wrapping paper fight. But that's only about 10 miles away... so I don't consider it traveling... I consider that home.
I also love going to the farm on Christmas Eve to spend the night with my mom & Mike (my son)... especially if it's a WHITE CHRISTMAS... I remember (from pictures) a few years ago waking up sitting in the family room with Mom & looking out the bay window at the beautiful winter scene & it started snowing. Talk about a perfect Christmas scene & memory!!! :)

#19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? (Well, since Kanga already had the answer... I have to be honest... I would have forgot at least Donner.)... Here's the answer: Rudolph (*wink*) Dasher Dancer Prancer Vixen Comet Cupid Donner Blitzen... Now how about the 7 dwarf's? (I'll leave that for a different blog! LOL)

#20. Angel on the tree top or a star?  Angel... no contest!

#21. Tinsel or no tinsel?  Tinsel... I love the glitter... Though on my tree there is none this year... unless I find some of the clear / opaque, down in the basement, that I had last year. I don't like silver on my tree anymore.

#22. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? In my family, it starts on Christmas Eve at Grandma's & we'd have 1 gift from Mom & the rest on Christmas morning. Now that we're all grown up... It continues throughout the day at our respective in-laws! & With my one sister living in Michigan (we're in Ohio) we usually get to have another Christmas when she comes down. & We have another with hubby's kids. Makes it last even longer!! :)

#23  What do you want for Christmas? If money were not a problem... it would be a laptop with a very good graphics program & runs properly & FAST!! Because money is a problem... I'll be content this year if it's a WHITE CHRISTMAS & I mean a true one... no grass showing (like it is now.)

#24. Turkey or goose? Never had goose, don't think I ever will. Turkey & Honey Baked Ham. But Christmas Eve is not complete without Mom's Lasagna!!! :)

#25 Do sugar plums dance in your head?  I don't know... what are they? I never saw the "Nutcracker"... though I want to!! But from what I remember from the Christmas stories from childhood... I'd have to say... Sure, especially if they're full of glitter!! LOL
