Happy Windsday

Happy Windsday...

What a crazzzzy night last night. Shortly before midnight it was so calm & warm out that I began to think we wouldn't get the high winds they foretasted...

But then about midnight the wind really picked up...

Since Coleman didn't pee the last time out... I thought I better get him out then... because if the next front ended up having thunder in it... I just knew I'd have to clean up a piddle.
I looked at the radar & saw we were in a break in between the rain...

So, I got him out & while standing there it dawned on me that it definitely is Windsday!! (Do you all remember Winnie the Pooh & the Blustery Day?)

Oh, but the craziness didn't end there! A couple hours later just as I was about to take my Ambien CR (yeah, I know, it was really late)... A cat  started to growl...

I opened the front door & nope... not there... though I could hear it better... so, I thought, maybe it's stuck under the bushes.

If it hadn't been so late I would have let the screen door slam or yelled to scare it away... but since it was, I grabbed my coat & put on my outdoor slippers & walked around to the front of the house with my flashlight.

By this time I could hear it wasn't just 1 cat, but TWO!! I thought... OH NO... I sure hope they're not "going at it".

Soon as I round the corner to the pine bushes under our living room window, I could tell that's where they were. One grey short haired cat (I've seen around all the time. I think it's one of the neighbor's across the street) & one white (maybe with a little tan) long haired cat... never seen before.

I shined my flashlight down under the bush & sure enough... two cats growling at each other! It looked as if they were each waiting for the other to flinch... so they could pounce! And I mean in a fighting type of a pounce! As if they were protecting their territory... even though neither of them belonged there! LOL

The grey cat took off & a white long haired cat looked like a deer caught in the headlights... but when it realized I was standing there, it ran off too.

I knew if I hadn't chased them off that they'd wake up hubby (if hadn't already) & he'd be hollering for me to do something.

So, it was an interesting night to say the least!

  4. Yes....the wind is howling up here in Maine today....supposed to blow 60 mph tonight...that should be fun.... )o:

As for the cats....yes....I always try to break up a fight too. I've dragged too many of mine to the vets after seeing the results of a good one gone unchecked.

  5. That wind was nasty. At one point our front door flew open, which scared the crap out of us. Luckily the chain was on, so it only opened a couple of inches, but boy, that wind! And the rain was falling so heavily it looked like a shimmering curtain. Thankfully there was not damage to the house and no power cuts, unlike some areas.

  6. Thanks Dudge! I forgot about the rain! You're right... shimmering curtain!
It was raining so hard & windy at one point I could not see the house across the street. I live in a neighborhood & so, that's CLOSE!!! :)
