So THAT's why they call them slippers! :)

If you read my review from a little bit ago, you'll know that hubby came home & was upset that I was not lying flat on my back...

Which is fine, because 15 minutes or so before he got home the pain started getting worse again.

Don't worry... I'm on my back now... I had hubby hand me $HIBA with her unplugged running on the battery.

I'm also laying on a heating pad! It's feels good.

When I got up this a.m. I wasn't TOO bad... but then I must have done something in all the moving around... because by the time he got back in from taking the dogs out... I could hardly move!

I sent that quick review & hibernated $hiba.

Around 4:40 I called the pharmacy to see if Dr. called in a prescription yet. Sure enough, they had... but no one from the office called. So, I had to call them back because they called in Tylenol 3... Which I can NOT take... something about the Tylenol I will end up with what is called "rebound" headache... meaning that soon as it starts to wear off, I will end up with a worse headache.

So, they called me back & said they called me in some Vicoden! Which hubby just came back with...

& I just found out that Vicoden (Hydrocodone) has ACETAMINOPHEN... that's Tylenol. Ok, now I'm confused why the Dr. prescribed it after me telling them, I can't take Tylenol!! Maybe they thought I'll be so loopy I won't notice the "withdrawal" headache!

Now that I'm on my back & laying on a heating pad... I'm doing a lot better than I was an hour ago.

It's been a long 24 hours! At least I have some pain killers!

As for GOING TO the doctors... he must not be too worried.. because they didn't say they needed to see me.

I have to send out a special thanks to Lil Angel Wolf for sending a message to the SA participants about the birthdays this month... Also for prayers / good thoughts requests for not just me... but also for Denise...

She is having surgery tomorrow to remove a lump from her breast... then they'll probably biopsy it. She is very scared... So, please click on her name & drop her a quick thinking of you message... either PM or her guest book! :)

Also, I have started a group of candles for her... this is a great site! It's lighting a "virtual candle". You can even include a message as to what it is for.

To get the group I created, this link. There is no sign up or download required. They stay lit for only 48 hours... so don't forget to go back & light another one in a couple days! She's going to need our prayers for at least a week, I'm sure!!

If someone wants to start a group for me, that's fine... but I really don't want to take away from Denise's need prayers & thoughts! :)

By the way, she's having a birthday on Monday!! :)

Oh... my friend Passion Wolf (whose b-day is THIS FRIDAY) told me... "No more slippers on ice... they're called slippers for a reason!!"

Well, that does it for this stop!! Time to disembark now! :)
(On your way out... why not, stop by Passion Wolf's & Denise's pages to leave them a birthday wish! I've made it easy for you... their name above is a link!) :)

I think I'll take a pain killer now! LOL

  1. I know all about rebound headaches, but normally they are not from the tylenol, they are from the narcotics in the tylenol when given strong pain killers... I get rebound migraines/headaches with narcotics. Normally plain old tylenol should not have that effect unless you abuse tylenol, which I am sure you do not... It is the narcotic in the tylneol 3's the codeine that causes that. or the vicoden, it's the hydrocone, not the tylenol... Talk to your dr about it... if it doesn't get better or see a migraine speicalist (neurologist)
Love and Blessings, and I did sneak PWolf's bday into the message... LOL, lilangelwolf

  2. I think you can get Hydrocodone (Vicodan) without the Acetominophen in it. It comes both ways.

  3. hubby told me that I used to take tylenol like it was candy... I don't remember that, because it's during my "memory block"!! (Did you know about that Lil???)

Well, I took one of the Vicodens... we'll see how I do tonight... If my head hurts more.. I'll go back to just taking 3 or 4 IB (Ibuprofen!)

  5. (Vicoprofen), Ibuprofen and Hydrocodone....

Hydrocodone is an effective antitussive (anti-cough) agent, and as an opiate it is also an effective analgesic for mild to moderate pain control. Five mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to 30 mg of codeine when administered orally. Early comparisons concluded that hydrocodone and morphine were equipotent for pain control in humans. However, it is now considered that a dose of 15 mg (1/4 gr) of hydrocodone is equivalent to 10 mg (1/6 gr) of morphine. Hydrocodone is considered to be morphine-like in all respects.

There are over 200 products containing hydrocodone in the U.S. In its most usual product forms hydrocodone is combined with acetaminophen (Vicodin, Lortab), but it is also combined with aspirin (Lortab ASA), ibuprofen (Vicoprofen), and antihistamines (Hycomine). Both tablet and liquid forms of hydrocodone are available (e.g., Tussionex)

Hydrocodone is in Schedule II of the Controlled Substances Act. Preparations containing hydrocodone in combination with other non-narcotic medicinal ingredients are in Schedule III.

Vicodin, hydrocodone in combination with acetaminophen, is a commonly abused version of hydrocodone. Vicodin, as with all narcotic analgesics, can be habit forming---causing dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms if not used as it is prescribed. Even when used as prescribed, the following effects are possible:

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE: dizziness, light-headedness, nausea, sedation, vomiting, and constipation.

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: allergic reactions, blood disorders, mood changes, mental cloudiness, anxiety, lethargy, urine retention, ureteral spasm, irregular breathing, respiratory depression, and skin rash.

SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSE: bluish tinge to skin, cold and clammy skin, extreme sleepiness progressing to a possible state of unresponsiveness or coma, heart problems, heavy perspiration, kidney problems, limp muscles, liver failure, low blood pressure, nausea, slow heartbeat, troubled or slowed breathing, and vomiting.

  6. Causes
Nearly any pain reliever can contribute to rebound headaches. But some medications are more likely to lead to rebound headaches than are others.

Simple pain relievers. Common medications such as aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) may contribute to rebound headaches — especially if you exceed the recommended daily dosages.
Combination pain relievers. Over-the-counter pain relievers that contain a combination of caffeine, aspirin and acetaminophen (Excedrin, others) are common culprits. This group also includes prescription medications such as Fioricet, Fiorinal and Esgic, which also contain the sedative butalbital.
Migraine medications. Various migraine medications have been linked with rebound headaches, including ergotamine (Ergomar, others) and triptans (Imitrex, Zomig, others). Interestingly, the ergot dihydroergotamine appears to have a lower potential for leading to this problem.
Opiates. Painkillers derived from opium or from synthetic opium compounds include combinations of codeine and acetaminophen (Tylenol with Codeine No. 3 and No. 4, others). These can lead to rebound headaches as well.
Daily doses of caffeine — from your morning coffee, your afternoon soda, or any pain reliever or other product containing this mild stimulant — may fuel rebound headaches as well. Read product labels to make sure you're not wiring your system with more caffeine than you realize.

  11. When your hubby is around(so he can help you in and out of the tub) try soaking in a warm to hot bath of epsom salt, it's good for falls, muscle strains and the such, it's also good for pulling toxins out of your body. They tell people who are trying to stop smoking to soak in it because it helps pull the nicotine out of your body. And moist heat penetrates the body faster then dry heat.

  14. ****UPDATE****
I am sorry, I was remiss in telling you all that the Vicodin is working out just fine! No headaches as it wears off. *WHEW* ... I just know though when it's completely worn off.

I've been trying to go as long as possible without taking any... because I don't want to be addicted to them... for 1 & 2... I don't have that many. I think the doc will require me to come in if I need a refill. So, I'm trying to make what I have stretch as long as possible.

The nice thing about it though is I've been able to NOT take my Ambien CR at night! Which is terrific! That will save $$ in the long run!! :) :)
(If you didn't know, I have to take Ambien to sleep. When I don't... sometimes I can get to sleep, but then it's only for about an hour or so.)

Ok, well, I have some pictures of our wonderful blizzard we're having... What I'll show you is not the final. I'll post them in my "Winter in Ohio" album soon. (Before the end of the day.) And, NO, I did not go out to take the photos... I did it from within the house!! :)

Thank you all for your warm wishes! :)
