I fell again today! This time it was not down icy concrete steps... This time I tripped over my dog, Coleman... he decided to take off a different way (to go chase after other dogs across the street) from where we were going. He got under my feet, between my legs... or something... happened so fast I don't quite remember. I just recall that I was trying to avoid crushing the poor thing while I was falling. I must have been 1/2 on the pavement of our driveway & 1/2 on the alley blacktop to have lost my balance so quickly.
I'm ok... no broken bones. But I fell hard enough that I scraped my right knee, (I'm going to be 40 in 18 days... I thought I was done with scraped knees! GEESH!)
Har hmf!! Just as my back was starting to feel much better... & can you believe it... IN TWO DAYS, it would have been ONE YEAR since the last major tumble I took... GOOD GRIEF, I can't win!!!
I am going to go through my messages & get something to eat. Hopefully hubby will be home by then to watch 24, so then I can just relax!
Please... be kind in the remarks... meaning don't laugh too much at me! LOL
(Hey, Hubby did when I told him over the phone! Thankfully it's actually kind of funny!!)
So, what... now I have to avoid steps in my slippers & dogs under my feet? Pretty soon I won't be able to move!!
Oh... on another note... We have NOW lost our insurance! Hubby's employer sent a letter telling him it was being canceled as of 28th of Feb... problem is, since his company employed less than 20... they don't have to offer Cobra. EEKS!!
& Hubby says with our conditions, it's going to be awful getting insurance now. (He has major asthma & I have... well, too many to list.)
Sooooo... we really need your prayers now. I know, I know... just about 1/2 the country is in the same boat.
Back to original topic...
Hmmm I can't remember... do I leave a scraped knee uncovered (no band-aid)?? Well, I cleaned the wounds with peroxide. I am going to leave the hand one open for now.
Oh & yeah... so much for my wonderful (NOT) neighbors!! Wonder if they even saw me lying there... or even heard me. GEESH! I almost called out to them to come help me... but with Coleman on the leash... & Sunny not... I just made sure I could move & decided to leave them out of it. Still... you'd think someone would have at least hollered over to me to make sure I was ok. Good grief!
Well, I'm off to go lick my wounds... (alright, not literally! Besides they already cleaned!)
Toodles!
poor you...
ReplyDeleteGlad there is nothing broken.
ReplyDeleteHi My Friend,
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your health and falls you have had over the last year and wish you a much better year ahead as you both have more then your share of health problems by the sound of it.
Same here myself and just wanted to say hello to you again ,as been too long.
Warm Hugs xoxoxoxo
I'm not laughing about a fall. No way.
ReplyDeleteI'm in my mid 40s and I'm scared of falling because I know. Thanking God that it's not worse.
(((((((((((((()))))))))))))))
Just glad to here you are ok!
ReplyDeleteBeen there done that...the dogs are ALWAYS getting under MY feet. I feel for ya! Glad it wasn't too bad for you...As for the insurance, you know that WE are in that boat too. I have been talking to the hospital and doctors trying to get funds to pay for things or getting them to pick up the bills. Just ask whenever you have to go..you never know what they have to offer..hugssss
ReplyDeleteWas the dog ok?
ReplyDeleteGlad it was not worse these fall's are dangerous so take it easy an get some rest.
ReplyDeleteoche poor you hey that's my trick falling over the dog here some chocolate and home made cake love you sweets
ReplyDeleteBad luck about yet another fall ... klutz! (Sorry, had to have just a little laugh) ... but even worse luck about the insurance, because I know just how serious a situation that is in the States. Believe me, I'll keep you both in my prayers that nothing major happens until you get covered again ... somehow!
ReplyDeleteNote for Coleman: Now be good ... no more tipping mommy on her jacksie.
Hey no laughing here, especially with what my fall cost me this year. Glad nothing is broken as for the knee I would put some antibiotic cream on it and cover it up...
ReplyDeleteHum I think I know what to get you for your birthday...... some bubble wrap! Sorry had too, plus I was thinking about getting myself some... just till winter is over...... :)
Oh dear... sorry to hear you fell again. I'm so glad that nothing is broken, and you've gotten away with a couple of scrapes. Sorry also about the insurance. We are on COBRA now and are having trouble finding something more affordable, so I know how that goes. I hope you aren't too sore today. Take it easy! :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you didn't hurt yourself too badly. *hugs and hands over chocolate*. :)
ReplyDeleteIn theory you should leave your wounds open (as long as they aren't bleeding), just to let the air get to them, oxygen will heal them more, but in practice, it's sometimes better to cover them up, especially if you're going to be doing something that might get them mucky. :)
Covered with neosporin. Too bad about your insurance - you'll be in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteYeah Emma... Coleman is just fine... I just now remembered I had dropped the leash... but he didn't take off like he normally would. I think... maybe I'm just trying to think too much into it.
ReplyDeleteWell, as for my back, it's a little stiff... I think my knee pain is taking away from the majority of it.
I did cover up & had neosporin on both scrapes. I reapplied neosporin to my knee again earlier. But I have the scrape on my hand open now. It will stay much cleaner than my knee. (Since I'm wearing sweats.)
I just can't put much weight on my right leg... so, I won't be taking the doggies out in the next couple days. So, hubby is going to have to take care of them.
Toodles all! & **HUGS**
It depends (yes, I'm finally here). If it's clean, leave it open, the air will dry it and help it heal. Covering it will keep it moist and risk infection. If it's infected, sprinkle in some salt (stings like the dickens to start with, but it's the best antiseptic), cover with a bandaid or clean dressing (not cotton), and leave on for a day. This will draw out the infection. Once the muck is out, leave open.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's not more serious. Mum has osteoporosis; a trip like that means several weeks in a cast (like the one she's wearing right now). She broke her foot a few years ago just by tripping when the dog pulled too hard on the leash.
