Mostly, I use *action* but sometimes, I'll use (action), especially if its a big hug, as it looks more "huggy"!

*Shrugs shoulders* ... Erm ... depends ... sometimes I use these for action {{hug}} so that it looks as if I'm giving a bear-hug.
