The REAL me

(Re-posted from 360) ... At the urging, rather arm twisting, of my 2 good friend Autumn & Maegan... I have decided to post a real picture of myself.

I've procrastinated on this because without a little color, you would be able to see how tired I am! Without makeup, I look like death warmed over sometimes.

So, I finally mustered up the energy & here are the results...

Keep in mind that, for me, getting dressed is a small feat some days... so to put on make up too... that's practically a miracle! LOL

No, Dad, I have not cut all my hair off... I have it pulled back in a pony tail. But it's only to my shoulders!

By the way... I am happily married, & I am not looking for any other romantic relationships... so don't even ask! (I have my hands full with the man I have now! LOL)

National ...... day (2 of them in one!!) 8-27-07 (entry #1)

Since it's officially the 27th in Ohio... I decided to go ahead & post today's Unusual Holidays! This is Maegan's last day of vacation... so Tuesday you'll find the National Holidays back on her blog!!

Just Because Day

Today is Just Because Day. Finally, you have a chance to do something without a rhyme or reason. Most often in life, we do things because we have to, or we want to, or it's expected of us. None of those reasons apply today.

Is there something you'd like to do, but there isn't a reason or logic for doing it? Well, today is the day to go out and do something "just because". It is most enjoyable if it is an uncommon, or unexpected activity or action. Perhaps, you have something in mind. If not, just go with the first thing that comes to your mind. "Just because" activities often come from a "whim" or a "what if I" type of thought. We know you will quickly get the hang of this day, and have a lot of fun with it.

To get you started, here are some of our suggestions for Just Because Day :

Take an unplanned day of vacation.

Visit someone you haven't seen in a while.

Knock on someone's door and compliment them for their great lawn.

Skip, don't walk.

Spin a wheel, and bicycle in the opposite direction of where the arrow points.

Buy something you don't need.

Jump in a puddle.

Walk backwards.

Here is a great idea- send someone some flowers- - "just because".

Send flowers now.

Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. But, we think this can be one of the best, most fun days of the year!

Global Forgiveness Day

International Forgiveness Day- the first Sunday of August

Forgiveness Day is a time to forgive and to be forgiven. It must be a pretty good thing, because there are two groups that lay claim to a Forgiveness Day in the month of August. Both are world or international events. There's enough trouble and strife in the world. Two forgiveness days can only help to make things better. We agree with the sponsors of this day, that a little more forgiveness will help to make the world a much better place.

Global Forgiveness Day began in 1994. It was created and is sponsored by the Christian Embassy of Christ's Ambassadors. This holiday originated in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

International Forgiveness Day was created by the World Forgiveness Alliance, a non-denominational, educational foundation. According to their website: " International Forgiveness Day dedicated to evoking the healing power of forgiveness worldwide." The founder is Robert W. Plath, from Mill Valley, California.

Do your part: Take a few moments to sincerely forgive someone. And, make it public. That way forgiveness will spread.

In religions:

** The Jewish celebration of Yom Kippur is a day of atonement or forgiving.

** In Christian religions,the first Sunday before Lent is called "Forgiveness Sunday".

Kiss and Make Up Day - 8-25-07 (filling in for Maegan)

Kiss and Make Up Day is a great way to end a spat. Everyone has an argument, a fight, or a tiff once in a while. Family, friends, lovers, no one escapes without an occasional fight. Today is a day to end the fight, kiss, and make up. Oh, what fun this day can be!

Today is a day to end the fight, be it a short spat, or a long standing feud. C'mon, get over the issues, and resolve your differences. Then, kiss and make up. After all, making up can be oh, so sweet. For lovers, it is the best part of the fight. Some might suggest that the kissing and the making up part makes fighting worthwhile.

BTW: Kiss and Make up Day might be a good day to send flowers.

National Second Hand Wardrobe Day - 8-25-07 (entry #2)

Saturday, August 25th is also NATIONAL SECOND HAND WARDROBE DAY!

Americans love a bargain, as well as the hunt for a good deal — but many people draw the line at buying used clothing. That’s why this is National Second-Hand Wardrobe Day.

The idea is to encourage thrift store donations, and to remove the stigma of buying previously used clothing and accessories by noting their economic and ecological benefits.

Across the U.S., there are nearly 92,000 stores selling used merchandise, usually including clothing, and they have annual sales of nearly $10 billion. Some are commercial ventures, many are run by nonprofit organizations. About 80 percent of such stores do not have paid employees.

My good close 360 friend Maegan is going to be going on vacation this coming weekend.

I have offered (& she has accepted) to post the "National Unusual Holiday's" while she is away.

So, I just wanted to give you a heads up to when you start seeing me post it... that I am not "copying" from her... just filling in!!

I am looking forward to this challenge. (Ok, it won't be that hard!) At least you know I'll be blogging at least once a day for the next few days! I just hope I can do it justice, as she does!
