Today we got up & went to a restaurant called "Margie's" in San Luis Obispo for Dad's birthday breakfast... Dad & Joyce warned me ahead of time that they give huge portions... I'll tell you what... That's an UNDERSTATEMENT! LOL...
Dad & Joyce split an omelet & potatoes... & I got French Toast & taters (which are little red ones diced... well, no... diced is not the right word... they were more quartered & grilled to perfection!) Dad took once slice of my French Toast... & I ended up bring home some of the potatoes. Everything was fantastic!!!
After having full bellies, Dad had to make a quick stop at Home Depot... then onto Traders Joe's... They have some great deals there! I ended up getting a little toy for Sunny & bag of "Cuties"... (they are little bit sweet oranges... called clementines.)
They are from the company that my hubby came out here for a few months ago... to install a machine for. When he came home he had 5 bags of these cute little things... (I guess that's why they call them Cuties! LOL)... & I took one bite & well, I think I may have a new favorite fruit! (used to be watermelon.)
Anyway, by the time we got back to Dad's ... I was ready for a nap... I am not sure if it's allergies or what, but the ol' sinuses were pounding.
So, Dad let me sleep & then he took Joyce to work. When I woke he was watching "The Masters"... I watched the last little bit of it with him. It was neat to watch them put "the green jacket" on the winner.
Then Dad made some WONDERFUL Beef Stroganoff... scrumptious, as always!
Then I watched Ashley Force almost win her 1st NHRA Funny Car race... she was just edged out. Hubby & I haven't been watching it this year & I didn't realize Ashley is a force to be reckon with! (Sorry... bad pun! LOL). Anyway, with her win in the Semi-Finals she topped the points lead... 1st women to do so in the history of NHRA... (maybe just for Funny Car class.)
Dad (& I) says thanks to all who have left messages so far to wish him "Happy Birthday".
Also while Dad was on his computer he had received an email with a sample of the new $5 bill! Ha! Ha!....
Isn't that the truth?!??
Now we (he) is watching the old movie "The Color of Money"... yep, the one staring Paul Newman & Tom Cruise! It's on ESPN Classics...
I feel old, because it's from 1986 & they are calling it a classic already! LOL...
I am not sure what's on tap for tomorrow, besides the fact we're going to McClintocks in Pismo Beach as a treat for my "belated" birthday dinner! :) I am looking forward to it!
With Joyce having to go to work bright & early in the morning... I think Dad & I will have a relaxing day! :)
Well, being the fact it's after 10:00p.m. (1:00a EDT) I am ready for bed! I pray you all having a great weekend! & Talk to you tomorrow sometime! :)
P.S. What's with all the butterflies? Well Joyce loves butterflies & so, I am doing it for her!
mmmm...clementines!! i love them!! and i love the butterflies! thanx for sharing your vacation with us! it really does sound like you are having a great time!
ReplyDeleteWe have been to Margie's and McClintocks too. I rather miss Trader Joe's. They had a wine there we called twobuck chuck because it was only $2 came in red and white and was delicious. It was from Charles Shaw Vineyard. It moved out of Trader Joe's by the caseload. We have a Sprouts here which is kind of the same. Those cuties are really good. I never tried them till I got to Texas though and California is the Orange orchard state. I always have an adjustment period with the old sinuses when we travel between states. I guess the allergens are different wherever you go. We watched the Masters yesterday too. It was a great tournament. I was in the middle of making dinner for us as well as one of our neighbors who just had twins but Tom was glued to the tube. Glad you are having a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you are having an absolutely wonderful time out there. I love clementines too, they are soooo good. That's a great photograph Becca ... what a great view!
ReplyDeleteTwo other good restaurants in that vicinity are Robin's in Cambria and The Olde Port Inn on the pier in Avila Beach. Robin's is set up in the old downtown in a little Victorian House. They grow all of their fresh organic herbs in the backyard there. They have the best lobster bisque I have ever tasted. The Olde Port Inn has the best Cioppino in the World. Here is a link to their site:http://www.oldeportinn.com/
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to Robin's...http://www.robinsrestaurant.com/...my mistake it's actually a Spanish style building. It has been awhile since we have been there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're having a blast! Love the $5 bill - so true. I don't even want to think about how high it's going to be this summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful time your having & that's what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteA friend sent me the $5.00 bill yesterday..lol it's so true
