The 179th Airlift Wing's new rides won't arrive until 2012 or 2013... so in the meantime they're will be flying C-21 Learjets.
See, what the problem is that at least once or twice a week we would hear the low rumble from 2 of the C130's fly over our house... I remember when they'd fly over the farm too.
Our next door neighbor, I believe, is a pilot... so, next time I see him, I'll have to see what he thinks of his new ride! (Hubby just told me that our neighbor will be retiring before all this takes place... I'll still talk to him about it... maybe! LOL)

I know how you feel... They have talked about closing down the Air National guard 180th out in Monclova out at the airport. I know when I lived out there for 2 years, everyday, the F-15's flying over everyday were very interesting. I loved running out to see them, and then on some days going over the overpass and literally having them fly right in front to the point where you could see the pilot as he was getting ready to land just on the other side of the overpass. It is an awesome sight. I hope they don't close this one down as many talks have thought of shutting down this one as well. I do not know the outlook of it, as I do not live out there anymore. I know how sad that must be for those out there who are used to it. it is an awesome site. love and hugs, lilangelwolf
ReplyDeleteWell... the 179th almost was shut down... but some how some way they pulled it out... I know there were cut backs... but I don't recall as to what... & I knew they were going to loose the C130's... but I didn't know about the replacements... So, this will be an interesting story to follow.
ReplyDeleteNow, Lil, that IS an interesting site to see!! That would be SO cool to be able to see the pilot... scary, because it's that close... but COOL!! :)
