ReplyDeletehmmm... i just had a message disappear?
ReplyDeleteyou mean like this but in a big long paragraph? Isnt that just the same as what we are doing here ?
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's the problem cazza :)
ReplyDeleteyikes

ReplyDeleteI found her reply... just a sec while i look it over :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I could go on & on about a bunch of stuff just to try
ReplyDeleteout this padding theory... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG????? &
Now I am confused Mama Di... I mean QW... LOL TESTING SUMMAT
nope
ReplyDeletewow
ReplyDeleteok, all, I am going to copy & paste her reply here... I warn you it's a little long...
ReplyDeleteready?
ReplyDeleteWe're missing summat for sure. but hopefully we can figure it out.
ReplyDeletelong is no problem post it already
ReplyDeletet depends on the tag you are using (yes, I do know what you mean ;)
ReplyDeleteDIV is the most flexible tag, because you can use pretty much any combination (borders, fonts, padding, spacing, alignment, etc)
For example, try this:
Your text here
You can use pretty much anything in a DIV tag as long as you don't have conflicting values (ie specifying two different font colours, etc).
You'll notice in the example above that I have specified several different border colours. The important things when doing this is to specify them individually, ie: border-top-color. You can also specify border styles the same way, ie: border-style-top. The standard border-color or border-style will set the default for any that isn't specifically specified.
You'll also notice that I give several font faces, seperated by a comma. This is called a hierarchy, and provides a backup font should the first font be unavailable ... and should the second be unavailable, the third is used, and so on in that fashion. You can specify any number of fonts in this way (not everyone has the same fonts installed on their computer), but two or three is usually plenty if you are using common fonts.
yikes, let me get the code from her example...
ReplyDeleteso its the div style tag
ReplyDeleteshe makes it look so pretty and easy
ReplyDelete(DIV STYLE="padding: 6px; border-style: solid; border-width: 6px; border-color: orange; border-top-color: purple; border-bottom-color: blue; font-family: comic sans ms, courier new, tahoma; font-size: 32px; color: green; text-align: right; background-color: pink; text-decoration: underline; font-variant: small-caps;")Your text here(/DIV)
ReplyDeleteThis is the code that generated that box below
with obvious change :)
ReplyDeleteits all too tricky for me to get my head around it thats for sure
ReplyDeleteyes i was wondering if it was with the DIV tag
ReplyDeleteI'm still confused! LOL
ReplyDeleteQW, can you make sense of it?
ReplyDeletetesting what this looks like
ReplyDeleteaww pretty
ReplyDeleteThis is a Test:
ReplyDeleteImma working on it hold on
ReplyDeletei distracted... brb :)
ReplyDeleteCazz do me a favor and post the code you used, please?
ReplyDeletethe one that lady used above but changing the bracet thingies
ReplyDelete(DIV STYLE="padding: 6px; border-style: solid; border-width: 6px; border-color: orange; border-top-color: purple; border-bottom-color: blue; font-family: comic sans ms, courier new, tahoma; font-size: 32px; color: green; text-align: right; background-color: pink; text-decoration: underline; font-variant: small-caps;")Your text here(/DIV)
ReplyDeleteYIKES! Here's the 1st part of her message... I'm silly! LOL :)
ReplyDelete(FONT STYLE="border-width: 4px; border-style: outset; border-color: red; padding: 12px;" font-color: "green")
ReplyDeleteYou are so CLOSE!!!
You'll notice that I've changed some of the text to red. That section should look like this:
padding: 12px; color: green" (In style sheets, font colour is specified just by stating 'color' - I made an error early in the lesson regarding this, and this is probably where you picked it up)
... as there are no quotation marks inside the style section itself, only at the start and end:
STYLE="color: green"
Keep working on it - you're doing great!
Does this make sense now? LOL
ReplyDeletepadding: 12px;" font-color: "green" ... is what she turned red in my message
ReplyDeletehmmmm... I'm CORNFUSED!!! LOL
ReplyDeletethis is what i used before but it wasnt working around the paragraph like u wanted
ReplyDeletehehe me too, all these codes do my head in
ReplyDeleteTESTING
ReplyDeleteTrying something longer and longer
ReplyDeletehere's something else she said...
ReplyDeleteAu Contraire my dear :) To use the example quoted previously, only with a font size of 24px instead, you'll notice that this will work for a large chunk of text as easily as it will work for a few words. The secret is to make sure that you only use the quotation marks at the start and end of the STYLE section (STYLE="code: here;") or it will break up your code, thus making it do strange things ;) Remember: HTML needs "", STYLE does not :)
whats that code?
ReplyDeleteTesting Testing Testing summat longer and longer and longer and longer.
ReplyDeleteoh, by the way, is the font large enough for everyone?
ReplyDeletelol QW, so share the code now LOL
