These shoes are cute... but come on... $343 for a pair of shoes where the strap isn't even adjustable... ARE YOU SERIOUS???

Oh... & that's the SALES price!!

I guess that's what I get for clicking on an advertisement! LOL

3 ways to lower gas prices...

My hubby sent me an email with this link to a video of how gas can be lowered in 3 steps...

After you're done watching that video (which will open in a new window / tab) go to AmericanSoultions.com & sign the petition (with you're real name, or it won't count!) to get Congress to...

DRILL HERE! DRILL NOW! so we can PAY LESS!!!!

Then after you sign that petition go back to the video & click on the other videos under it (after it has ended) to hear updates!

Did you know Venezuela only pays TWELVE CENTS per gallon?? NO JOKE!!

It's way past time for our government to listen to us... We can NOT afford not to...

DRILL HERE! DRILL NOW! PAY LESS!!!!!

My hubby would probably disagree...

Local news... (warning... it's graphic)

Rating:
Category:Other
I was about to power down $hiba when I saw a link in the local news box about a lady that had been beaten & etc & left for dead...

Seems our local newspaper decided to interview her & print her ordeal... I am only posting this because I have to vent a little... I do not agree with newspapers printing addresses of victims of any crime... let alone what this poor girl has been through!! (Let alone, how her neighbors would feel like!!)

Read for yourself & decide. **WARNING** the story is a bit graphic! Not for the "faint of heart"!!

Bath day...

Today my good friend from high school (Passion Wolf) came over to help me give the doggies a bath. We usually take them to the groomers... but we just haven't been able to afford that extra expense... however, I think they're going to have to go to the groomers the next time because they are both in need of a trim!! (When Passion Wolf arrived, Coleman wouldn't stop licking her... until she put him in the tub for his bath! LOL)

So, what's with the picture of the car?? Well, that's my hubby car... today when he got home from his "mini vacation" he received an email that he's now an official member of a Mustang Owners "club"... Anyway, I just wanted to share the picture of his "toy" with you.

FYI - Opal Frost is a little rare color... He said he was wanting to paint the majority of it scarlet (red) (so it would be Scarlet & Gray for the OSU Buckeyes)... however, he found out that the Opal Frost is an unusual color. So, now he's just is adding scarlet stripes & etc to it. He even has a OSU helmet head on the top of his antenna. LOL

Well, the email invites have been sent to a few & calls have been made for "The Celebration at the Farm" on the 5th. To do lists have been made... & I have the formal invite ready to print... If we can get them out tomorrow. If not, no sense in printing & making copies, because it probably arrive in time.

Ok, this train has been derailed (due to tiredness)... so talk to you tomorrow!

Is this a good or bad addiction... you decide! *UPDATED*

How would you classify my "addiction" to Webkinz?

It's good as long as you don't put your self into debt!

Isn't Webkinz for kids?

You could get out of hand if you're not careful!

I didn't read your blog & I have no clue as to what is a Webkinz & I don't care.

I have my own addiction / collection of Webkinz.

My kids have Webkinz... I thinks it's cute but don't have the time to play.

ALL ABOARD... Today's destination: Webkinz World.
Wow, I haven't done a poll in a long time... I think it's a good time for it... Well, I never did take that nap! LOL... I was busy catching up on a couple good friend's blogs... Now I have Tuna Helper (which my hubby just recently told me he's not fond of... So, I'll enjoy it without his muttering about having to eat it! LOL) simmering, so I figured this was the best time to get the blog started about my Webkinz.

As mentioned in my previous blog I have just received my 5th one... I already know what you're going to say... "but I see 7 in that picture!?" ... yeah... true... however... the big turtle (Travis) is a "Traveling Kinz" (made up by me... like the movie "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! LOL) between a friend & me.

The other one NOT included in the count is that yellow banana looking one... That's the Wacky Zingoz that I thought was like adopting a regular pet... but nope... it was just something that gets you access to the Wacky Zingoz EXTREME... which that in its self is fun & hilarious before it becomes extreme!! (If needed I can explain that later... maybe in a reply below this blog.)

Beep beep... timer is going off... Tuna Helper is done... YUM YUM!! It's even better when all you've had since 7:00 a.m. is a couple Pop Tarts & a banana. Hmmm... I could swear I've had something else.

Ok, back on track here... I'm going to hurry up & finish about my Webkinz babies while it cools! As for that yellow one... I'm keeping his name as Wacky for now... if they ever make it to where we can adopt it as a "virtual pet" I may come up with another name.

Oh... my collection is all girls (except Travis the Traveling Turtle & Wacky) ... so far that is! & No exception to my newest addition! (Well, hold on... let me tell you about the others 1st...)

The 1st to start off this crazy addiction / collection is Cola the Koala... She is actually a "Lil' Kinz"... a smaller version, but just as cute as the originals! When Autumn & Maegan talked me into Webkinz... I said my 1st one would have to be a Koala! Don't really know why I thought of Cola for the name... it's the name I gave my virtual Koala on SL. (Side note: I haven't logged on to SL in so long... had to remove the program from $hiba for a time... long story... but yes, Mama... I'll be back soon!!) :)

After I got used to the site & the fun it offers... I decided to get "The Pet of the Month"  (POM) in May, which was a Panda... (With the POM, you get bonuses of all kinds... too many to explain here.) This one was hard for me to name, until I looked up Panda names in zoos around the world... I saw one that was named Mei Lan from the Atlanta Zoo... & then I saw her picture here... & I just loved the name! (She's the last one on the page... Be sure to check out her family tree just below her.)

(*Stops & has a few bites of Tuna Helper... hubby doesn't know what he's missing! LOL) So, anyway... I thought of how my hubby & I are fans of the show LOST... & how I like the one character's name is Sun... so... I named the panda, SunMei (yeah, one word).

I know, I know,... you see TWO Panda's there... I'll explain in a moment...

The next one I looked for was June's POTM, which is an elephant... (side note: I picked up Wacky & SunMei at the "Richland Carousel" here in town... cheapest in town... but the rest have come from eBay... cheaper yet, even with shipping!) ... Anyhoo... I found Pella the Elephant at the same time I found the other Panda... & found out that the Lil' Kinz Panda is retired... & thought... "Oh, I just have to get the little one!!" & so then I thought of a name for one if I "won" it... LilMei... SunMei's sister! LOL ... that's before I even was had a successful bid!!

I ended up winning LilMei AND Pella & received them both on the same day (from different sellers). So, when I say I've been playing on Webkinz... I've been taking care of my pets in a "virtual" way... kind of like NeoPets, but online... It's a VERY SAFE site for children to learn responsibility AND they have education games. They also have daily questions for you to answer that teaches even an ol' lady like me!

How did Pella get her name? Well, when I was little I used to look at the the manufacturing tags for ideas for names... Since I hadn't figured out a name when she arrived, I looked at her tag... & the first word that stood out to me was "pellets"... she along with all the other Webkinz & Lil' Kinz have plastic pellets inside them. (Yeah, they're like the Beanie Babies) ... so, I just kept trying different versions of the word until I felt like it was the right name.

Which now leads me to my latest acquisition... I was looking for a good deal on August's POM (which is a "Cheeky Monkey") when I saw a picture of a Cocker Spaniel Lil' Kinz & absolutely fell in love with it... I even thought of a name as I placed my bid... Cookie!! No clue as to why... but it just seem to fit & hoped I wouldn't have to go too much to win her. I couldn't believe I won her for just under $2... but then I went to pay & forgot about shipping... but STILL... it was cheaper than what it was at any local store!!

I've even looked at some of the auctions on eBay that is selling lots of the pets... so that I could resell them & maybe make a couple bucks & help others get in on the fun at a cheap cost.

Then I saw one seller is selling just the codes & donating the plush pets to charity... which I thought was a good idea... So... I may end up donating some of mine to our local "Toy Time"... I said MAYBE... each one I get I think will be the one I will donate... but then it arrives & I think they're just TOO cute to give away!! ... I think my collection of coffee mugs may go by the way side to make room for my new found passion! ... again, I said MAY!!! LOL!!!

So... now... is this a good or bad "addiction"?

Webkinz as of 6-28-08 in corner

The picture above is of their temporary home, the corner in the living room... I may end up putting them some where else as my collection grows. Who's the other two beside them? The big white bear with the pink ribbon is called Mr. Icy... Because my son gave him to me for my birthday this year & he goes by ICYPARADOX on his video games.

The other little white bear with the red, white, & blue sweater, I call Mr. O' Patrick... for obvious reasons! He's a "March of Dimes Bear". He was in my stuff from my desk at my job at Embarq / Sprint, that was sent to my home without warning. (This is the job I had when I lost 10 years of my memory... Then over a year ago they shipped all my belongings to me... even before there was any decision on my LTD... (long term disability))... sorry just a sore subject for me!

Well, that does it for this ride... hope you've enjoyed your trip aboard "The Rambling Train"! :)

Future destination... Tribute to Princess Diana.

**UPDATE**... I forgot to mention that with each pet you adopt, you receive (in Webkinz World) an adoption certificate... here's Cookie's :)

Going back to sleep...

Ha! I finally have a reason to post this little guy!  Anyway... a quick note before I lay down for a little nap...

I am a bachelorette for the next 24 hours or so! Hubby has left for his little "mini vacation"... Actually he's been on vacation since he got home from work on Tuesday! (Much deserved & well over due for him!!) He was going to go to the Ohio Hog Rally the past 2 days... but since it was raining he didn't go. Today, he left just before Noon to go to a town called Lima (pronounced LYE-MA... not LEE-ma as some have been known to say!) (about 2+ hours west of here) for the flat track races that are held every year at this time. (Motorcycles.) It's a type of thing that would bore me to pieces.

If he had left when he planned, he probably would be at the hotel already & wouldn't have to worry about the rain... however, since he took his sweet time watching the weather & packing the Harley... I'm 99% positive he met the storm head on. & Depending on at what point... he's probably soaked. (Though he said he was going a route to where he can pull over.) But hey... that's his prerogative! LOL!! Hopefully he was able to pull over in time to don his rain gear.

I would have posted a picture of him on his Harley... but I can't find the one I snuck of him a while back. (He doesn't like his picture taken.) If I find it, I'll update this posting.

Anyway... I had awoke after only 5 hours sleep & so I'm having a hard time concentrating & keeping my eyes open. Ok, ok... some of you may say 5 hours is good... but not for me... with my condition, I need at least 8 hours... if not more, to be able to function at full potential. So... I am going to lay my widdle head down & relax my eyes. Then since I'm by myself, I'll probably be blogging some more... As a matter of fact, I think my next blog will be about my Webkinz collection... because I received another one today. (That makes 5!!)

UPDATE: I just received a call from hubby... he's in Lima & at the hotel safe & sound! A bit wet... but safe! He even said had he left an hour earlier he would have missed all the rain & been in his room as it came down. Oh well... he will have a nice ride home tomorrow... At least that's what it looks like! :)

Well, I think I just heard a little thunder & it's getting darker by the moment! ... so I best get the doggies out before it starts pouring here! Coleman hates the storms... he tries to bark & chase the thunder away... & if we don't get him out, sometimes he has a little accident from being so scared... Sunny... she sleeps through it all... most of the times.

Talk to you all later! This ride has reached it's destination!

(For more articles click on the links at the right of the story entitled "Related Articles". & If you scroll down, you'll find the Photo Gallery links... not that there's much to look at right now. LOL)
NO, I am not going to any of the celebrations... I am not really from this town (but a much smaller one near by) ... & besides, as mentioned in a few prior blogs... Crowds & me just don't mix well anymore... AND it's too hot & humid for me!

Busy bee...

Oh, I'm not trying to steal the concept of a new found friend... Stillybee... it's just today I've been a busy bee!!

As I mentioned in yesterday's quick blog, I had to go to the farm this morning to work on the plans for the big party on the 5th...

Well, Mom & I compiled a list of names & how many we think that might come if they all were to show up... & at this moment we're at 164 guests!!! Told you it was going to be big!!! But of course... that's not a final count or anything like that... & not all that's family... however the majority of it is... over 50 of them!

So, anyway, here is MY list of to do... SO FAR... I have to make a formal invite (with a map) to email to all & to mail to those who are still in the stone age ... create a slide show of family pictures that my mom, my sister Gina & I have... organize & finish the spread sheet with everyone's email address' & other contact info... create some signs & banners... and create a newsletter / game sheet to be handed out... Oh & I have to find a true guest book... or if all else fails, I'll make one! (That may be the best bet, so I can be sure it has all the info I want for future use!!) :)

It's a good thing Mom does this only every other year... or so!! (Though it's been a few years since the last one. Not that it matters anyway.) Anyhoo... that's my list so far.

Oh... Mom & I also put together an outline of what is needed & who will be in charge of bringing and / or set up.

I already told Mom, don't be surprised if I run & hide at some point. But then again... maybe not... because I volunteered to be in charge of the "Texas Hold 'em Tournament".

Ok... with all that said... does anyone have any ideas you think we might incorporate... & maybe things for the kids to do... there will be quite a few of them! :) We've already planned on having a checkers table. It just would be great to have some back up plans... AND anything at no cost would be great... My mom is already starting to fret a little about how much all the rental stuff (like the 20'x20' tent) will be. All ideas welcomed.

How about a tip before I pull this train into the station... certain prescription containers make for a great way to carry Q-tips (cotton swabs)... at least the ones I get are just the right size!! :)

Well that does it for this trip... hope you all enjoyed your ride!!

Quick ride...

It's after Midnight & I just realized I hadn't blogged yet about about a new gadget I received today.

Oh, before I do that... I want to update you on $hiba... after a little research, I found out that the keyboard I bought IS compatible with my particular model. So, I reinstalled it & made sure the cable was completely seated & again.... VIOLA!!! It works! I, now have a completely new keyboard with all keys functioning! So, I did not waste $25 after all!! :) Now all I have to do is sell the old one to make a little bit of the money back!! (Along with many other things in my house that has been stacking up waiting for me to put on eBay!)

Anyhoo, arriving today about 1:00p was my brand new LG Chocolate - Black Cherry! I couldn't pass it up... I got it for FREE!!! :) So, I guess you know now why I hadn't blogged until now! LOL

I had liked the idea about the Chocolate ever since I saw one in the Verizon store back in 2006. I thought, what a cool name for a phone! (Side note: this was the day AFTER I got out of the hospital after loosing 10 years of my memory... Walking into that retail store was a bit of a tech shock for me!!) Giving my love for chocolate... I thought, maybe I'll get that some day! LOL... However, I am glad I waited... because the version I have is the new updated version... with a few better features.

I'll post a review after I've had some time to play with it & get used to it... There are a couple minor things I am not liking... but I may just not be doing things right. So we'll see.

Speaking of reviews... if you haven't seen it yet... I posted one about the movie "Michael Clayton" starring George Clooney. (That link should open in a new window / tab.)

Well, I have to pull this train into the station already because I have to go to the farm in the morning to discuss the party plans with my mom. So, I best get some sleep!!!

Michael Clayton - starring George Clooney

Rating:★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Drama
I was very disappointed in this picture. I expected more from an Oscar nominated flick. To start with it was full of foul language, including many "f bombs", that I so despise. It was not as if they guided you into the use of the profanity... it started from almost the beginning. Also, the use of certain sexual expletives could have been withheld & would have made for a much better movie.

If it was not for George Clooney's acting AND the ending, I would have given this only 1 star. Clooney did a phenomenal job for what he was given. However, I really think anything he does is for the most part, great! His drama rolls are his best... however, I have yet to see "Leather Heads" (you know that film about the beginning of football!) :)

I do have to say that this movie started off in a way I tend to enjoy... starts at the end of the story... then back tracks & tells you how they arrived at the particular ending.

Furthermore, the music score for the next to last scene was breath taking & so fitting for it. It did capture me into the moment.

Oh, if you decide to watch this (or have already)... will you please let me know what the meaning behind the reason why Michael Clayton stopped on the hill & went to the horses standing there. I thought it was from something the character Marty had said to him about "having the horses to do something about it"...

My hubby & I even went to the director's commentary to hear why, but they never really did.

Speaking of the commentary... it was amusing... at one point there talking about the film & said something like "if they're watching for the 1st time with commentary, then they deserve to have the ending ruined." Something like that. (Since I've already returned the dvd to the rental store, I can't go back & find out the exact quote.)

Anyway, I honestly am glad I did not go to the theater to see it, or even bought the DVD for my own collection.

Feel free to debate me on my humble opinion... however, I will not recommend without the warning about the foul language in it.

By the way... this film was not based on a true story, as many (including myself) thought.

For more information, including a plot summary, check out Wikipedia's take on the movie. (Be sure to read the "critical reception" paragraph... in case you didn't know, it received high marks from many professional critics, including Roeper & Ebert!)

D'oh!!! ($hiba update!!) & other happenings

ALL ABOARD!! Toot Toot!! ALL ABOARD!!! Time for another trip on "The Rambling Train"!!

Well all, I am BACK IN BUSINESS! $hiba is mended... it was just a simple loose cable!  I had called a professional computer repairer yesterday & he offered to bring over an external keyboard to test if I did short out the motherboard, or if it was just the keyboard it's self...

So, he stopped by today... We sat out on the front porch (which was so neat... 1st time I sat out there with $hiba! ... before I go way off track... )
Anyway, we plugged in 2 different keyboards into the usb slots & they both worked. He said he didn't think it was the motherboard & thought it was just something was loose or ??

So, (hmm... I see I have a "crutch" of "so"... (that's a term in radio school about a "habit" when talking! LOL)  I said let me show you what I did... I proceeded by taking the little strip off & then unscrewed the tiny screws & lifted up the keyboard & he leaned over & tried to loosen up the clips & then that's when it dawned on me what I did! I said... if it's that's simple I would be tickled pink...

Well, as you can tell, by this blog, that's all it was!!!!! I took the cable / ribbon out of it's port & put it back in & then pushed the clips back in place... put everything back together, put the battery back in & turned on & VIOLA!!!
I about cried... & I'll tell you this... had I known that guy... I might have given him a big ol' hug!! But since I just had met him, I asked for his business card for the future! He was so helpful & he didn't make me feel like the complete dork I felt like! (I'll explain in a moment why.) He was SO nice that he didn't even charge me anything... & with the gas prices I figured he might... but on the phone he said he would for just a simple little test & he was going to be in the area anyway! **WHEW**

Needless to say I did a little happy dance after he left. & That reminded me that my back is still healing!! OUCH!... Good thing I do not have to go to a job or anything!! :) Well, I'm too happy to be in that much pain... also it helps that I am laying on the couch with my feet up as I type this! LOL! :)

Ok, on to why I felt like such a dork & why I said D'OH in the title... & Why you're probably asking why would I need to replace the keyboard on such a laptop that is only a few months old...

Well, this all started way back when I decided that I could clean under the keys by "snapping" them off... well, when I went to replace the "end" key... I some how broke the retainer clip... the thing that keeps the key in place. Instead of going to my hubby & admitting that I broke it & ask what I should do, I tried to fix it myself by super gluing the key to the clip...

Well, that didn't last long the key kept popping up & I still couldn't use the end key. So, I searched eBay & the net to see if I could find anyone selling parts & see if I could persuade them to let me buy that 1 key for a dollar or 2.... & was hopping they could just send it in a regular envelope.  The only one I could find that was selling the keys & clips wanted to charge $5 PLUS shipping FOR JUST ONE KEY!!! I'm like.. no... I can get a NEW full keyboard for about $25 total!

So, that's what I did! I bought a new keyboard... figuring once I replace the one key I could sell the rest of the keys separately, for about $2 or even less... well, when I received the keyboard the retainer clip was a little different than the one I have... so, I figured I would then just replace the whole keyboard & sell the keys separate from the old one. (Or the whole board without the "end key".)

That's when all the problems started... When I bought the keyboard I was a dork and did NOT check the part # on my current one & thought that the one I got for the particular model would work. Well, I was wrong & knew it soon as I saw that the keyboard cable was slightly different... well, it was same length & same width & all that... the one part that is different is the "wire traces" in the flat ribbon cable... Either way... I still didn't have it plugged in correctly... so maybe that's why it didn't work after I tried it... Then when I put my old one back in... I did the same thing & didn't have it completely "seated"... After calls to Best Buy's Geek Squad & a couple days of mopping around about it... I finally confessed to my hubby what I did. I told him not to chew me out because I had already been beating myself up about it.

When I said I was advised that I probably shorted out the motherboard, he's like "Duh!" & "Did you check the part #'s exactly?" So... I kept thinking well, maybe I could do this & that... Then yesterday I finally had the bright idea to call a PROFESSIONAL here in town to see if they could come by & test it... & so that's "The Rest of the Story"! (in my best Paul Harvey impression.)

At least for now it is! See, hubby is due home soon & I can't wait to tell him the wonderful news! (Yeah, yeah, I know... it's not THAT wonderful... only if you know how much this laptop means to me, you might understand!!) Anyway... when he gets home, I'm going to ask him if I should try that new keyboard again or if I should just send it back to get an exchange for the EXACT one of $hiba!! I'd hate to actually short out the motherboard by using the incorrect part AND having it installed properly!

(UPDATE: He said not to try it without checking with Toshiba if it will be a problem.)
Ok, moving on... I know some of you may not have known what was going on because you don't read everyone of my blogs or reviews... I wanted you all to know that I was still around so that's why I kept posting things like the "Blogthings" quizzes... See, I could still copy & paste with the mouse... & I really could have used the other computer to blog... but I really don't like the "JunkYard"... because it lives up to its name... I think hubby should just scrap it & start fresh! But I can't tell him that because we don't have the money to do something like that. (I cashed out my 401k from the job I was at... is how I got money for $hiba... that's for those who don't remember and / or are new to my blog!)

So, I am back in business... I do have to say this... I was "lost" without $hiba being up to her full potential!!

Now you're probably all jumping for joy that I'm back (ok, maybe not! LOL)... Weeelllll... Don't start the partying just yet... I may be doing short blogs for the next week or so... because yesterday my mom has "assigned" me a big project...

See, about every other year or so my mom would host a family reunion on the 4th of July... & Because it's on the farm... & out in the country we're able to shoot off some noise makers... So, one of my cousins puts on a fabulous & huge (for a personal show) fireworks extravaganza... & it's becoming "the talk of the town"... well, ok, maybe the valley... all the neighbors love it!

This year it's going to be on Saturday, the 5th & sounds like it's going to be bigger than usual! & it's no longer the "Tyson Family Reunion"... but rather a big ol' 4th of July celebration... not just for family... but also for friends... & friends of other parts of the family. Oh & the neighbors around the farm too! They might as well join in on the fun during the day too! So, it ought to be interesting... Mom said we're going to have a pig roast... card games (maybe even a Texas Hold 'Em tournament); croquet & much more!

Anyhoo, my mom is wanting to get an email out to all those who may not have heard about it & start getting a better head count... because I guess my older sister, Renee, is having a "conniption" since nothing is really set yet... like how many chairs & tables we'll need & etc. (Hmm... & I wonder where I get my procrastination from! LOL)... Plus I need to get a map for those who haven't been to the farm before, or were not old enough to remember how to get there!

I've even invited some friends of mine! Hey... I need someone to talk to, besides family! All I know is that with the last year or so that I have not been fond of big crowds anymore... I don't know what it is... so, I figure I'll need to do is get involved with it & I'll be excited. If all else fails I'll hide up in one of the rooms with $hiba & send you all an update! LOL!!

In between all the interruptions & distractions (of my own doing), I've been working on this blog all afternoon (talk about ADD! geez!!)... I am ready to pull the emergency break & hop off this train...

Hope you all enjoyed your ride!

(Tomorrow & future destinations: My Webkinz collection; Samantha Elizabeth; & more UFC stories! I figure if I put it here it will remind me of what I need to do! LOL)

Update on $hiba...

Hey all, $hiba is still a bit under the weather... (code for still haven't fixed the keyboard)...

$hiba is not the only one... I've been battling a major migraine the past couple days. So I hadn't felt like even turning on the Junkyard (my hubby's desktop computer) & deal with it's slowness.

I felt I must today to let you all know I'm ok & I'll be back to my rambling self one of these days soon! :)

Now I need to print off my RMA form to return the "new" keyboard (that I think messed up $hiba... won't go into all the details.) & then I need to go lay back down.

Later & thanks for your patience! :)
