Harpo update :(

I'm sorry to say, Harpo did not make it through the night. I just spoke to Katie at the OBS... & she said that he was congested & etc. She said he was eating fine... but he just couldn't make it.

Well, at least I know what to do if I ever find another little one like that. The OBS was the best thing for the little guy. At least he didn't have to suffer in the hot humid sunlight & didn't die of starvation.

Yes, I'm a little sad... because I was hoping to get to know this little one & get to watch him grow up... & be able to share with you all his progress... But, you know... he was a common, wild bird.
I will move on...

  2. Awww, how sad for the little birdie. I know you wanted him to get big and survivie. That is sad that he did not though. Now he is a birdie angel in Heaven.

  3. That is really sad, but even in the best of conditions, it is so hard to raise a wild bird.
    God Bless

  6. Lady, I know you are sad, but remember this. You might not have ever had the joy he brought. And you made his last hours on earth good ones.

  8. i agree you made his last moments comfortable, and that's alot. From what i have read and heard (animal planet) baby birds are hard to keep alive once the parents are gone, but you tried most people would not have done that.

  9. Thanks for the support everyone. :)

I'll stick with my virtual pets in Webkinz world... but that does not mean that I will not try again if I ever come across something like that again. ... If it was a kitten, you better believe I'd have NO hesitation of taking care of it & then taking it to the farm for it to grow up!! :)
Hmmm... baby kitten... hmmm... NO, I can't... not right now! LOL :)

Maybe if one of the farm cats has kittens, I may be able to convince my mom to let me "adopt" one... LOL!... Fat chance... because mom had all her cats "fixed" over the past few years... so any kittens now will be of the stray variety. (Which there on the farm... could happen!! LOL)
