She would have been 96 today...

Just a very quick ride this time... in dedication to my Grandma Gert, my dad's mom. (She was 21 in this picture above .) She would have been 96 today. She passed when I was in 8th grade. We miss her dearly!

And yes, that is her in the wedding photo (below) with Grandpa Sam from 1933... he died when I was 2 years old... so I don't remember him. (Side note... when I took the picture out of the frame to scan it into the computer, I found their Certificate of Marriage, in very pristine condition... I thought at first it was the original because it had an emboss seal... however there was another date that said something about 1970... If I find out the reason behind it, I will post it in a comment below.)


Dad said Grandma was known as Gravel Gertie... I remember her buying me the "Penny Press" puzzle books (like word searches & etc)... & she would send me the cutest cards on holidays & birthdays.

Good ol' Grandma Gert... Miss & Luv ya!!

  2. Yes she was! Thank you (I take it as a compliment, because I look a bit like her.) & what about groom? Isn't he handsome, or what?? Only wish I had known him better. Dad said he was a great man!!

    I forgot about the XXX's & OOO's... Grandma always signed her cards & letters with them!!
    Man, talk about the tears welling up!! ... I have to stop now! Later!! :)

  8. Awww, that was very nice of you. She was beautiful. I'm glad your dad enjoyed the tribute to her as well. She's in a lovely place now. And I'm sure she is so happy that you are loving her and remembering her still.

  10. she is so beautiful Harley she is very lucky to have a granddaughter like you. you must have Loved her deeply and she you. What a beautiful tribute you put together for her i sat here for a while staring at the pictures and started to day dream of what it was like back then. The wedding pictures gave me the goosebumps so much beauty and love it

  11. beautiful pictures. and when you said you took it out of the frame and found their wedding certificate reminded me of a picture of my mom, i was replacing the frame and when I took the picture out I found her birth certificate. that was a real treasure to me.
