For all my "Technically Challenged" friends.. & family... 8-6-07

(To my computer savvy friends & family... Did I do a good job explaining?... go to the poll below and / or leave me a comment, if you have any other suggestions or tips on how to "copy & paste"!)

Ok, for all you who are not computer savvy... & want to know how to post a link in your answer in Yahoo Answers... Actually when you learn this... you'll know how to copy & paste almost anything... ALMOST ANYWHERE!!

I admit, you might have a little of a headache when done... but rest asured you'll use this all the time from here on out!! Because you can then "copy & paste" to your heart's desire!

Below are screen prints, pay attention to the "purple" arrow.

(I am not sure how big these "slides" will appear, so if they're over sized, please just bare with me, because it's the only size I found to where you can see the details.)

We're going to use my 360 site for an example... HOWEVER, you can do this with any web page.

1st when your at the site you want to copy the address (link)...

1. Take your mouse / cursor & RIGHT click in the address bar (as shown in the 1st photo, in the 1st slide below.)

2. Next... on the box that pops up, LEFT click "select all", it will highlight the full web address. (As shown in the 2nd photo, in the 1st slide below.)

3. Next... RIGHT click again (because that box will disappear) & click "copy".
(As shown in the 3rd photo, in the 1st slide below.) Now you have the address / link on your "clipboard"... (ready to paste anywhere you want!)

4. In this example go to Yahoo Answers & go to the answer you left (for any question... but for this lesson it's in reply to this question.) OR, if you have not left an answer yet, simply click "answer question" button... & skip to step 6.

5. At the end of your answer you'll see the word "edit" in blue. Click there. (See 4th photo in 1st slide below.)

6. You'll then be taken to your answer... (or place to leave your answer if you haven't already entered one. As shown in 2nd slide.) ...RIGHT click in the top box & LEFT click "Paste". (I forgot to include a purple arrow, but you can see the word Paste highlighted.)

Tada! The link appears! You've now pasted a link!! (if you're using your question link in Yahoo Answres... the link will be extra long... & when you preview it, it will olny show part of the link, to save space.) (As seen in 4th slide.)

7. In the 3rd screen shot, are the results! From there you can type what ever you want... if you want to add more details to your answer. (Like you normally would.) & then click preview & then if satisfied with your answer, click submit. (not shown, because I assume you already know how to do that!)

Optional way

1. To use your keyboard instead... just LEFT click in the address bar to get your cursor up in the box (sometimes it will highlight the full address automatically, if so, skip to step 3.)...

2. If not, then press & hold "ctrl" (on your keyboard) AND then tap letter "A" at the same time...
It should then highlight the full address for you. (This is the same as "select all")

3. With the address highlighted... (& while still holding the ctrl button (or press & hold again) tap the letter "C", (this is the same as "copy")
& release the ctrl button.

copy paste with keyboard
(I swiped these 2 photos from here!)

4. Go to where you want to paste the address & press & hold the ctrl button & tap the letter "V". (This is same as "paste".) You're link (or whatever you copied will appear / be pasted!)

Another way to copy & paste is to go to your tool bar & choose "Edit" (As shown below) ... & use the "select all", "copy" & "paste" options from there!

Ok, I think I'm satisfied with this... I may "tweak" it a little bit.
Now I have a headache!! (Only because the editor was being a bit picky & something was running in the background as I was trying to type!! & It was slowing it WAY down!! But soon as I posted the 1st version, everything was fine. I think Yahoo 360 feedback is going to see another email from me!!!)

Send me a message if you still don't understand or need help with anything else... If I get a few of one thing, I'll post another "tutorial".
Have fun & a GREAT day!!
Your humble teacher, Lady Harley!
