Alone for the night

Hubby has left me... just for the night & only to go help his buddy, D.M., deliver some Alpacas to Connecticut. From OH to CT... a nice LONG trip!!

I have my doggies, computer, & tv to keep me company! Believe me, I have a lot to do... even if I didn't turn the computer on! ... or if I didn't turn the TV on!!

On another note, I'm really enjoying being on Twitter... it allows you to type short thoughts or reply to other peoples thoughts (tweets) ... so, again, if you hadn't seen me for awhile on here... Come check on me at Twitter. (I have a link on my home page, now... for easy access.)

I have it set up now so that I can send a tweet from my cell phone. However, I do NOT have it set up to send me any updates from anyone... because of being limited on # of messages. So, I won't tweet that much from my cell until my trip...

Which is in 15 DAYS!! If you go to my home page here, you will see I've changed the countdown!

Also, I've changed the background to "showcase" my creation... I think it goes rather well with the roses, don't you think? Maybe I should make a theme from it! LOL!!! (Laughing only because I already have a mental list of things I want to do tonight... & I doubt I'll get to 1/2 of them!)

Oh, if you're wondering how I am doing, back pain & all... well, today is NOT the day to ask! Let's just put it that way! I just hope that I won't be in this much pain when I go to Az...

If I am, I think my 1st stop when Dad gets me back to his place will be to hop in the jacuzzi that's on site!! After being on 2 planes for over 4 hours... yeah... JACUZZI here I come!!!

*Mental note... better make that written note... need to get some of that "Airborne" or whatever to keep from getting other peoples illnesses! A cold or flu strain seems to be making it's round around here!!*

GOOD NEWS, btw... Hubby had an interview the other day. Though, he's not heard back yet... *goes & checks his email... nope nothing yet* ... He is supposed to hear something from them today. So, I have been given with the task of checking his email in case they send the notification that way.

AND... Coleman started eating out of the dog food bowl again... Wait, did I tell you all about that?

I tell you that dog is a strange one... Couple weeks ago, we believe his tags hit the bowl (which is one of them metal type, not plastic) & we believe it spooked him... because he would not even approach the bowl to eat.

What was odd though, he would drink water, which is in the same type and right next to the food bowl.

To get him to eat, hubby went so far to feed him by hand... then started putting it on the rug... Then I started adding a little beef broth type and got him to eat it from a paper plate... Though, he still would not eat it from the silver bowl.

We even tried a plastic one, & for some reason he was still spooked... AND we even moved the bowl out of the kitchen. He ate every day, but we had to coax him on top of all the above mentioned.

So, about a week ago while at the store, I picked up a "topping" that is a little bit of oils... it's supposed to help their coats & skin (which both have had dry skin lately because of the weather)... and he seemed to have enjoyed it...

So, each night I've been gradually getting him back to the bowl... Sure enough... the last couple nights he's ate directly from their own bowl & in it's spot... but still needed us to stand beside him to coax & praise him. (Wonder if Sunny snapped at him one time while we were away... Nah... they usually don't eat when we're not here.)

Anyway... now he just needs to eat on his own without our prompting. Which since I'm by myself tonight, I'll probably try!

Other than all that... things have been pretty calm this week. Thankfully! After last weekend, I needed it to be!

Ok... the lack of sleep last night and a Vicodin is kicking in... so, I think I'll go snooze for a bit... or at least lay & watch a bit of tv.

Enjoy your Friday & weekend!!
TOODLES! :o)

Just want to brag a little

Well, I've been trying to teach myself how to use my graphic program GIMP. After watching a couple of YouTube tutorials, I played around a little.

I ended up making a couple of abstract backgrounds & posted them on Glitter-graphics.com

Click HERE to see them both. Just click on the thumbnails to see the larger version.

It's a start!

Oh & I also learned how to put glitter on something! I'll share them later... once I save my work. I had been working on the abstract too much tonight & I'm tired now.

So, Toodles! :)

UFC - #128 - Deja Vu

Remember that poll about modern day inventions? Well, here is the story that I needed it for. Before we get to the story, though, let me take care of a little business 1st...

To read the challenge this was based on and other submissions, please CLICK HERE!!

Also, the below is mainly fiction, spice in with a little bit of truth (mainly of my job from the past.) Hope you enjoy! :o)

Déjà Vu - Lady Harley

March 19, 1986

Turning in my seat to watch as my younger self enthusiastically greeted customers at our local Bob Evans’ restaurant, I smiled at how silly them floor length skirts looked on us hostesses.

Thinking back to when I was hired on, I remembered how excited I was because I was going to get to wear the long skirt. Not sure what it was, I just know I felt special.

Rotating my chair back as not to draw attention to myself, I pat my pocket for about the 8th time to make sure the letter I had to deliver was still there. "One more cup of decaf, then you can complete your mission", I thought.

The reflection staring at me in the mirrored salad cabinet showed an elderly woman that bared a striking resemblance to my Grandma Gert. I figured that likeness would be the easiest way to approach my younger self and to complete the task at hand.

I didn't have to worry about what I was going to say; because I had already did it in the letter I was carrying.

Thinking back to what seemed like the day before, but was less than two hours earlier... I was seated in the same chair I was in now, except then it was March 19, 2009. I was there just to give myself a change of scenery while I was writing my novel. As I was preparing my first cup of decaf a woman dressed in an unusual suit sat down beside me. I glanced at her and gave an acknowledging smile.

Little did I know that this lady was here to talk to little ol' me. She turned in her seat and placed her hand on my arm. "Don't be alarmed, I just have a message for you."

"Ok" I hesitated.

"Answer me this, why are you using pen & paper to write you novel."

I stared at her. How did she know what I was writing? I've told no one what I was doing. My husband doesn't even know yet, because he is at work. I wouldn't tell him until he gets home.

"Uh." Was all I could mutter.

"I know what you're thinking. You're trying to figure out how I knew what you were writing." She said in a hushed tone.

"Yeah, how did you know that?"

"Believe it or not, you sent me to deliver a message, from the year 2034."

Again, I stared.

"Ok, think about it. Look at my clothes. You've not seen anything like this before, have you?"

"I just thought you were some runway model to gain publicity for some new crazy outfit."

She then pulled a book out of her briefcase and showed me the back cover. On it had a picture that looked like me, but older and with more white hair than brown. Underneath the photo was a synopsis of my life. Before I could read all about my past, rather my future, she quickly put it back in her carry all.

Before I could ask, she said: "You cannot read the summary, for the information may change my history, and your future."

I was just floored that I actually seem to have a published book.

"Alright, say I believe you're from the future, why are you here?"

"We need you to go back to 1986 to deliver a message to..." She paused as a waitress walked by.

Before she could continue, I interjected; "If you were able to travel back in time, why don't you just go? I know of no technology of time travel."

"I was only allowed to travel back 25 or less years. Because I'm only 26."

"So, why didn't my future self come back?"

"I can't go into those details. Just know that you trust me completely in the future." Just then her watch beeped at her, glancing at it, she groaned. "I don't have much time before I'm pulled back to my time. And I have to get to a place where no one will see me disappear. So, please no more interruptions. Ok?"

"Alright, why 1986 and who needs what message."

"You will have 1 hour to go back to deliver a letter to your younger self." She must have known my next question of how would I find myself in such a short time. "If you'll think back, you were working at this very restaurant back then."

I nodded and she continued, again as if reading my mind. "Before you return to 1986, you need to write the letter to convince yourself not to give up on novel writing. In this letter, you need to explain that the Internet will be there to help you succeed with your gift.

This has to be in your own handwriting. So, don't bother going home to type or print it out. Besides you don't have that kind of time. You will be leaving soon."

Again I nodded. Continuing on she said, "You have to word it in a way that you do not give away how the Internet works or anything else that will jeopardize your time-line of life. Meaning you can't mention who wins the Super Bowl this year or anything like that."

A waitress stops by to ask me if I needed anymore decaf, and if my friend needed anything. We both shook our heads.

"I must warn you, that when you return you cannot tell anyone else who you are, and why you are there. Besides no one will believe you. This is why you have to compose a letter. Also, you will not appear to anyone as you currently look. It would cause too much confusion.

Furthermore, your letter must be of encouragement. You must convey that your talent for writing must not be ignored, no matter what anyone tells you."

At this point I'm a bit puzzled. I'm trying to remember if I had ever been discouraged about what seems to come naturally to me.

"So, exactly how am I supposed to travel back in time?"

The young girl hands me a watch and explains, "Once I have returned to my time this will beep once. That means you have exactly one hour until you will be transported back. Then it will be twice when you have 1 minute before. I cannot stress it enough; you need to be in a location where no one will see you disappear. I suggest you stay in or near this building as not to delay you when you arrive back to 1986. Do you understand now?"

"I believe so, first beep, one hour. Two beeps, one minute. Need letter of encouragement. Can't tell anyone who I am. Does that about sum it up?"

This time she is the one to nod. "I must go now. I need to leave before it seems as if I disappear."

"What about the bathroom?"

"I would, but you see... no, I can't tell you that. You could do that, but I cannot."

Did she just about tell me this building wouldn't be here in 2034. Oh well, that's none of my concern. I was more worried about what I was going to say in this letter.

I looked down at my coffee and back up to ask her another question, but she was already heading out the door. I tried to follow, she had already disappeared by the time I was able to get outside.

I stood there for a couple minutes to see if I saw her drive off, then I looked on either side of the building. With no one was around I wondered if I was imaging things. Then the watched beeped. It only took me about thirty seconds to realize I was not dreaming.

I strolled back to the counter where my coat and notebook was still laying. I picked up my pen and started to put my thoughts down.

After about 20 minutes I started to review what I wrote. I crossed it out and flipped the page to start again.

This time I composed a few lines and crossed them out. Once again I started to try to write something that would convince my younger self that I was not some freak and something believable that I'm from the future.

I shook my head, and thought, "This is never going to work."

Finally, I came up with a few sentences that I felt would not give any details away, but contained encouragement and was convincing enough. As I was about to proof read it, the watch beeped twice.

"Oh crud!" I mumbled.

I hurried to pick up my notebook and jacket. Tossed a note on the counter by my cup of decaf with a scribble of "BRB". Thinking that it may take longer, I quickly tossed a few bills beside the note, and then headed to the ladies room.

Just as I closed the restroom door, I saw a pink light and my ears popped. "What in the world?" For a moment I forgot I must have time traveled. But then a cold rush came over me as a little girl opened the door. She looked a little confused and I wonder how close was she to the door when that pink light flashed.

Shaking my head I just headed back to the counter. As I walked by several people I could tell that I actually did travel back to 1986. Then I bumped into my younger self. Wow, I had not really changed much, except no white or gray hair and a lot thinner.

The younger me looked at me as if she saw a ghost, but quickly apologized and asked if I was all right. I nodded and excused myself. I walked back to the counter and took the same seat I was just at, but in 2009.

It was then I realized why my younger version was a bit startled. I looked a lot like my Grandma Gert who had passed when I was in 8th grade, only 3 years prior for my 1986 self.

A waitress stopped by and asked if I had been helped yet. I started to say yes, but then I remembered, to her, I had just arrived. Then I realized, I know this girl, I used to work with her. "Not yet, Deanna. I'll just have a cup of decaf, please."

"Coming right up." As she stepped over to the coffee machine she asked, "How did you know my name?"

I mentally slapped my forehead, but quickly came up with an answer. "It's on your name tag."

"Oh, I'm just not used to folks paying attention." She places the cup down. "Please let me know if you need anything else."

"Thank you." I smiled.

As she walked away I breathed a sigh of relief.

I then turned to watch myself flit around like a little schoolgirl. Then I realized, back then I was just a schoolgirl! I was in the 11th grade, yet being a hostess at Bob Evan's was my second job.

I kept trying to think of a way to approach myself to deliver this letter. I must have been staring into space a long time when my younger self waved a hand in front of me. "Are you sure you're ok? I didn't think we bumped heads."

I laughed and said, "I was just day dreaming."

"Can I get you a refill?"

I looked at the watch the future girl gave me and said, "Oh no! I'm going to be late!"

"Well come up to the register, I'll get you cashed out."

Without thinking I followed myself up. Thankfully I still had a couple dollars in my pocket.

"That will be 89 cents."

"Wow, that's cheap!"

"Did you have more than a cup of coffee?"

"Oh no. It's just where I come from it's almost $2."

"Where did you come from, the future?" my younger self said sarcastically.

I about had a heart attack. Did I just ruin this? I thought.

Quick on my feet, I replied, "No, not really, just New York."

"Oh, that explains it." She said as I handed her a dollar bill with the letter under it.

"What's this?"

"Just a little note of encouragement. Please wait to read it until you're alone."

"Thanks."

"You're welcome. Have a good day."

Just then my watched beeped twice. "Well, I guess since I'm going to be late, I best use the restroom before I leave."

"Well, you know where it's at." My younger version giggled.

Again, as soon as I got the door shut, the light turned pink and my ears popped again. This time I was a tad bit woozy, so I leaned against the door for a moment to catch my balance.

"Did you see that light, Mommy? It was a pretty pink!" The little girl voice startled me.

There must have been a mom and daughter in the one stall when I was transported back.

As the mother tried to argue with her daughter that she must have been seeing things, I quietly made my escape and found my way back to that now familiar seat.

My note and money was still lying there next to a hot cup of decaf.

"Hmm." I whispered to myself, "I must have not been gone too long."

As if she heard me a waitress popped by and said, "Is the bathroom busy?"

I nodded. "May I have a to go cup for this. I need to be on my way." I asked, when actually I just wanted to get home to process what just happened.

At the register I felt that déjà vu feeling. I shook it off thinking it had to be just because of the time travel. When I reached into my pocket to pull out the dollars I picked up when returned to 2009, is when I felt the letter.

My first thought was, it was all a dream. But then I pulled it out and realized it was faded and tattered.

The cashier saw it & said, "Wow, that must be some special note or something."

"If only you knew." Was all I could think of.

When I reached my truck, I locked the doors and pulled the letter out to read it to see if it was what I thought. Soon as I started to read it, I remembered exactly my thoughts when I first read it 23 years ago.

I smiled as I did in 1986 at the words of encouragement and how it all made sense now.

"No matter what anyone tells you, you will succeed. In several years, you have the ability to share your talent for writing with anyone in the world, quicker than you can bat your eyelashes. It is a gift you will come to realize that you inherited from your Grandma Gert. Keep smiling! Yours truly... Me!"

NOT A CLUE

It's MY BIRTHDAY & I'll do a poll if I want to!! =:o}
So, how old are you?

Same age as you... 40.

 1

Too old to worry about anything anymore.

 2

Not old enough to care about anything yet.

 0

Why do you care to know?

 0

Huh, it's your birthday... here, have a piece of cake...

 4

Cake? Did I hear someone mention cake? I'm there!

 3

Wait, what was the question?

 3

I had NOT A CLUE what was in store for me when arrived home a little bit ago.

Not a clue that my mom, sisters, son, & hubby were up to something! Not a clue that I would have a BIG surprise waiting for me!!

NOT A CLUE that Mom wanted me early to the funeral home because something needed to be delivered!

NOT A CLUE AT ALL!! Either I've gotten so used to my family's plans changing at the last minute all the time... or I am really slipping... but I had NOT A CLUE that something was in the works for my 40th birthday today.

Ok, ok... Had enough suspense yet? Well, let me set you up a little more...

As mentioned in prior blogs, yesterday I had calling hours (a wake) to go to in the evening... 1st of 2 this weekend. Then the funeral was today. (Tomorrow is the 2nd funeral.)

I was able to get my hubby to go with me, but found out the night before he couldn't make it to the funeral because he had a job fair to go to in the morning. I'm like, no big deal... I am not going to stand in his way for that.

Before we left last night my mom was all instant that I be back at the funeral home 1/2 an hour early. I was going to scoot in about 10 minutes before.

Then this morning I get a call and she tells me she's going to pick me up. I said I'd drive so that I wouldn't have to go to the dinner afterward. (I just wasn't sure if after being up until 5 a.m. I would make it through it.) She insisted.

After the funeral I tried to get her to take me home so, I could pick up my truck. Again, she insisted no, she had to get to the restaurant before anyone else. But she promised if I was in too much pain or too tired she would bring me home. (Oh, yeah, I woke up yesterday with a stiff back again. I know now I can't sleep on my left side much anymore. It's ok today, still tender, but I have to take it easy.)

So, anyway, we're all done with the funeral and the dinner afterward. We're heading home and still, I had NOT A CLUE that something was up.

I didn't even get it when I walked in and saw our VCR tape cabinet sitting in the kitchen (and I almost ran into).

I walked around the corner into the living room to see why my hubby had to move the cabinet, still not got a clue a surprise was waiting... thinking he was up to something with the stereo... But soon as I cleared the corner everything just became quite clear...

In my living room sits this GORGEOUS... & I DO MEAN A GORGEOUS Grandfather Clock! (The link is from the factory she got it from. I'll try to post a picture later of it.)

My mom had been working with my hubby "FOOOORREVER" she said to work it out so that I wouldn't be in the house when they went to deliver it and he needed to set it up.

When my sister's mother-in-law passed away & stuff worked out for the funeral to be today as well... everything just worked out for them to pull of one of THEE biggest surprise to date.

Mom was even telling me as we're walking in the house that she would give me my gift tomorrow when we have the party... Still, it never registered to me that they would pull off a huge surprise like this!

If my mom had talked to me about it before hand, I would have said, no, don't worry about it now... we don't have room. (Which really, we didn't... but her & Hubby found a perfect spot for it.) I honestly had forgotten about getting one for us because I've balked about not having the room.

You see, each of us 3 girls now have a Grandfather clock in our homes. It was something that my mom had always told us, that when we'd have our 1st house she would get us a grandfather clock.

Well, after how many ever years later after we moved here, I now have a Grandfather clock. And I do have to say the timing couldn't have been more perfect!!

(Oh, yeah... Hubby did still have that job fair to go to, but it didn't pan out... Except it was perfect timing to give him an excuse as to why he wasn't going to be at the funeral today.)

I feel awful for my brother-in-law & his family that they had to deal with the loss of their mom... however, I think knowing that I had this surprise waiting, I think cheered up my sister a little. So, yep, perfect timing!! & Yep... they all pulled it off. (Including my son... I guess he almost spilled the beans several times.)

Now, I just wonder, if it hadn't been for the funeral, how was my mom & Hubby going to get me up and out of the house in time. Had this been a normal day... I would probably have still been sleeping. Well, I'll find all that out later when Hubby gets home, or I meet up with Mom & my sisters for a birthday dinner at Applebee's! :o)

*Leaves the room still shaking her head.* "Nope, NOT A CLUE AT ALL!!"

Here's the poll I was talking about in a prior blog...

I am looking at taking at least the top 3 or 5 & using them in my writing challenge.

Thanks to all gave me a ton of stuff to choose a Top 10 list.... & keep an eye open for the stories! (From United Friends Challenge aka UFC.)

On a different note, I may be a little scarce for this week. I'll be working on my story for the challenge... and my book that I started in November... I need to try keep up with it. For I have a feeling that I'll be writing while on the planes next month.

If you'd like to see what I'm up to... I've been trying to keep my Twitter updated. So, you can click that link for my quick notes. (You'll have to read the ones that do NOT have the @ symbol before a person's user name... Them are just replies directed to that person... PM me if you have any questions about it.) :o)

That's all for now. Toodles & **HUGS**

P.S. Please tell you friends about this poll... (withOUT sending mass PM's! This is probably going to be the only time I'll ask this... & I'm asking it because I need a lot of votes to help me decide the Top 3 or 5. They don't have to read the blog, if they don't want to... they can just run in to vote & hop on out.) Thanks! :)

Poll has been removed... here are the RESULTS:

1st: High speed internet (that would include email & all related stuff like WiFi) 15 votes

2nd: Digital cameras & video cameras AND
Printer / scanner / copier / Fax machines (them all in ones for home use!) - 2 votes each

3rd:
DVR / Tivo instead of a VCR & Compact Cell Phones & camera phones - 1 vote each

MP3 players didn't get any votes... & I know it was tough to include the internet in with all the rest... So, I went ahead & included MP3 players in my challenge, even though it didn't have any votes.

I'll be posting my story in answer to my challenge in a couple days... So then you'll be able to see what all the fuss what about.

Thanks again for all your help!! :o)

2 funerals & a 40th birthday

Well this week had started out to be a relaxing one up to my 40th birthday... however that has all changed.

We've had 2 deaths in the family & both the funerals are this weekend. One is on my side, sort of, my sister's mother-in-law. The other is my husband's uncle.

1st one has calling hours on Thursday & Friday morning ... Then the next one is Saturday.

Somewhere in the midst of it all we'll be trying to celebrate my birthday. I have a feeling that we won't be going to the movie.

Oh & yeah... I have to write a challenge & a story for UFC.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know what is going on.

Vicodin Land again... contact only info...

Hey all... yesterday & today I've been dealing with back pain... & I have not a clue what I did to make it start hurting again so much.

I mean, I went to bed Friday feeling fine & dandy (as far as my back was concerned) woke up after a terrible night sleep with my back just a aching something fierce...

I pretty much tried to deal with it yesterday... got up & changed & took Coleman & Sunny to the farm to run around. (Them, not me!!) However, by the time I got home my back was getting stiff again. So, I took 1/2 a Vicodin & tried to relax.

After another night of terrible sleep... I get up today & I realized it's just my left side of my back that's bothering me. (After eating a banana & taking another 1/2 of Vicodin... I laid down on my right side (because I've been sleeping on my left & thought maybe that had something to do with it.) & fell asleep for a little bit.

I got up about an hour or so ago... & I am still quite stiff... How stiff... well, I'm hungry & I could not bend to open the 2nd drawer where my bread is... in the top drawer is snacks... so, pretzels will have to do!

(Side note... Hmmmmm ... I hear my bike running! I think Hubby is out getting our Harley's ready for riding season! Hear I thought he was working on his truck.)

Anyway... I'm STILL hungry... I'm going to either have to bug Hubby to get me the bread... or I'm going to have to bend through the pain. For I have to get something substantial in my tummy before I can have another Vicodin.

CRUD! I was hoping to save them meds for my trip... I sure hope this pain won't last long! I really don't want to have to ask the doctor to call me in another script before my trip!!

I know... I know... "Poor me" .... right?? Yeah... I know, others are going through some pain too. Well... I'm just venting... & I'm aloud to do that, right? It is my blog... I guess I can do that.

Besides... I just wanted you all to know why I haven't been around much last couple days. & Right now... I'm stretching (physically) to do this blog... hoping that the little bit of it will help.

Oh, yeah, I have one of them pain patches on my left lower back... & it's so odd to feel it when it's cools...

Ok... got to go... This is becoming too much. Toodles & HUGS! :)

P.S. I found out that my one sister (Gina) is cooking up something for my 40th birthday... She told me. (Long story... I may explain later.)

Follow me to Twitterland... (edited)

Do you "Tweet"??

I joined & I post updates a lot!

 1

I'm there, but not often.

 2

I've thought of it, but haven't yet.

 2

Never heard of Tweet Twitter, until your blog.

 0

Sounds like fun, maybe I'll give it a try.

 0

Not interested at all!

 2

Blast instead of blogging, that's more my style... where do I sign up? (Oh, I see the link in your blog now.)

 0

Are you nuts?? I already have a ton of online things to check on now.

 0

I'll leave you my own answer.

 1

Ok... I had been tossing it back & forth whether I should join Twitter or not. I really didn't need another blogging community.

Well, I found out tonight, it's not really a blog... It's really a way to put up "blast" messages. (If you used to be (or still are) on Y!360... you'll know what I mean.) Anywhoo... I finally signed up tonight!

"Follow me" if you wish... but I will warn you, if you're someone who likes to chat... ALL your "updates" and "replies" to other "Tweeters" are public... UNLESS you set it to be private. Only problem with setting it to private... is that those who are not a "follower" of yours won't see it... so, if you're wanting to Tweet to someone not on your list... I don't think they'll see your message. I think.

Now... why is this fun & what made me start all of a sudden tonight? ... Well, I had Abrams & Bettes (The Weather Channel) on in the background a couple hours ago... & Mike Bettes was trying to set a new Virgina Tech Wind Tunnel testing record (which he did @ 133 mph!!)... & they were asking viewers to "tweet" our questions.

Well, I did & I actually got ON THE AIR!! ... Well, my user name & my question was! THAT WAS SOOOOO COOOL, I tell ya... it caught me off guard, because it was almost the end of their "show". (Can't really call that a show... but still) Anyway... guess what? I taped it! I'll have to upload it later.

Alright... another reason for this blog is because Abrams & Bettes were challenged to get 10,000 "followers" in 90 days... So, I'm here to help... If you're at all interested in Twitter (or already there) & enjoy them on The Weather Channel... so, why not follow them.

No, you won't get a ton of email... unless you set your settings wrong. Hardly any email as a matter of fact. If you join, beware...
1. it's addicting, if you're that type of a person. (LOL!)
2. you might get an odd "follower" or two... if so, just block them. (I had 2 right off the bat. I think they were spammers.)
3. It's addicting... oh, I said that already.

Another reason I joined was because I know a couple of you are already there... AND because I had been looking for something where I could just do a little quick update without having to doing any blogging. So, this ought to be interesting.

If you're REALLY into letting your friends know what you're up to... you can Tweet (that's what it's called when you post an update.) from your cell phone. I won't be doing that because I don't have unlimited messaging. If I did... I would!! ... Though I may set it up so I can tweet while on my trip... so you all know where I'm at & what's up!!

If you DON'T want to join... but you'd like to see my updates... I do believe you can still view them. I would suggest bookmarking or whatever for future reference. Fair warning... there will be times when I have lots of updates when I'm replying / tweeting to other Tweeters. I may put a link on my home page here. (If I remember. LOL)

Alright... I will be on a "polling" kick in the next few blogs... because I have a few in mind. Just another fair warning!! :o)

Oh... one more thing... off subject... there is a new Nicolas Cage movie coming out... (ON MY BIRTHDAY no less!) & it looks like another big hit... hubby won't be here & since he doesn't really like going to the theaters... I may have to get my mom to take me! It's called "KNOW1NG"... I've included a link so you can see the preview, if you haven't already.

That's it for this edition ride... Toodles & **HUGS**

EDIT: Here's how Twitter was born!!

My TTT (edited to a Baker's Dozen)

1. Will I make it to #10?

2. I can't believe that in less than 10 days, I'll be FORTY!! EEKS!!!

3. Hubby still hasn't found a job... but he's "being picky while Obama is paying him to stay home." (his words, not mine!!)

4. I keep thinking of things I need to take & get for my trip to Arizona... but I seem to forget to write them down.

5. How many satellite receivers are we going to have to go through before they send us a brand new one. (We're on #4 at the moment... Different problems each time! As long as this one doesn't lock up & records my shows completely, I'll be happy!)

6. According to a rep the other day, we should have gotten the newer model this time around.

7. Anything happens again, I will be demanding the newest receiver available!

8. This all be a mute point if we can't cut some of outgoing money some way else... other wise... bye bye satellite... bye bye cell phone... We need to cut $200 / month to make ends meet!!

9. I just hope that hubby finds a job BEFORE we have to go that far!

10. I'm obsessing on non-essentials... why? I should just be happy we still can afford our home... & can still afford to keep our doggies!!

11. Made it to TEN!!

12. Will make it TWELVE so that it's still a "T"!!

13. What??? No one wants to PARTY??? (LOL)

Toodles & **HUGS** to you all!!

A picked up dog...

My dad sent me this in an email... Thought you might enjoy! :o)

A lady was telling her neighbor that she saw a man driving a pick-up truck down the interstate, and a dog was hanging onto the tail gate for dear life!

She said if the pick-up truck driver hadn't been going so fast in the other direction, she would have tried to stop him.

A few weeks later, her neighbor saw this truck at the Bass Pro Shop in Daphne, Alabama ! The pick-up truck driver is a local taxidermist with a great sense of humor!

Can u just imagine how many people try and stop this guy???

Some LOLz...

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Other
As you may (or may not) know... LOLz (aka Icannhascheezburger) has all kinds of photos with some hilarious captions.

Well, I finally registered... (mainly because I wanted to put a photo up of Coleman to see what kind of captions I can get) & I was going through the lot of photos to vote on... when I happened upon the below... I didn't like the caption it had... so, I did one of my own.

Now, if you click on that picture you can vote for my caption at the top of the picture... (by choosing how many burgers you think it deserves)... or see more captions... and / or build you're own caption.

funny pictures

Oh... before I forget... here's the one of Coleman... what's your caption for it? (I may put up a poll to add it to the picture.) We'll see! :o)

911 calls

Be careful when you call 911... you may just end up on the news... or in someone's blog... Like these 2...

This 1st one is very understandable why the gentleman called 911, had he called a tad earlier the police may have seen it 1st hand. HOWEVER... all is not lost on this one... The lady admitted to actually driving AND breastfeeding her baby AND talking on the cell phone. (Wait... how many hands does that lady have?) She now faces possible charges for child endangerment.

Now, the next one... Well, this is one of them you hear & you think... "You can't be serious??!!" Just click on that link (when you get there, click on the picture) & you'll hear what I mean. After your read that short article... click the "see also" link & read that... & Read the "FYI" at the end.

I would like to nominate this lady for the Darwin Award 2009.

Yeah, I know... I know... this maybe old news to a few of you... but there are some I'm sure haven't heard these yet.

Well, that's all for today! Toodles!!

Let's get this PARRRTY started...

It's a week, no a MONTH of Birthdays!!

March is a BIRTHDAY BONANZA!! Well, it seems like it to me... A lot of my friends are having birthdays this month!! (Alright, yeah, I'm a little partial since this is my birthday month too!!)

Let's start with little miss Amy!! TOMORROW is her birthday! She does not have a public blog anymore... so, I won't link her, but you can find her in my contacts. If you're a mutual friend... please go leave her a message or 2 to brighten her day. (I may have a birthday party blog up later tomorrow for her & my other friend.)

Passion Wolf is the other friend... her birthday is Saturday!! Her & I are both celebrating a big milestone this year.

Oh, I see that the Dancer (Linda) has her b-day on Friday!! With 3 friends celebrating this week... sounds like a good reason for a PARRRRTTTY!!

Sunday is Kitty Biscuits (not to be confused with KittyChile!!) day... & Denise is next Tuesday & next Thursday is Katha's!!

WOWWEE!! Lots o' BIRTHDAYS!!

Sounds like this is going to be a month long party!!

Let me see... let me go find a few things for this party...

(Feel free to post
SMALL birthday graphics here. However, it will be more advantageous to go post them on the ladies guestbook's than here!)

We need a little music...

& a little bit of food.

Instead of a chocolate fountain this time... I'm bringing in a CHOCOLATE POOL!!!

ENJOY!!

That's all I'm putting out for now... Only because I know many of you will bring along your own goodies. (If you post a picture... please remember to keep it small... so as not to slow down the loading of this page.)

Rules of the party... Have fun, keep comments decent (obscene & profanity free)... & HAVE FUN!!!
(Disclaimer: Photos found in Google Images... Except the 1st one, it's from Glitter-Graphics.com)

so I only have to tell this story once... (contacts ONLY!)

This is for my contacts ONLY! Mainly so I don't have to worry my dad!!

I fell again today! This time it was not down icy concrete steps... This time I tripped over my dog, Coleman... he decided to take off a different way (to go chase after other dogs across the street) from where we were going. He got under my feet, between my legs... or something... happened so fast I don't quite remember. I just recall that I was trying to avoid crushing the poor thing while I was falling. I must have been 1/2 on the pavement of our driveway & 1/2 on the alley blacktop to have lost my balance so quickly.

I'm ok... no broken bones. But I fell hard enough that I scraped my right knee, (I'm going to be 40 in 18 days... I thought I was done with scraped knees! GEESH!) & my right hand a little. My back is getting a little stiff... & I'm sure it will be sore tomorrow!! At least it's no where near as bad as last year!!

Har hmf!! Just as my back was starting to feel much better... & can you believe it... IN TWO DAYS, it would have been ONE YEAR since the last major tumble I took... GOOD GRIEF, I can't win!!!

I am going to go through my messages & get something to eat. Hopefully hubby will be home by then to watch 24, so then I can just relax!

Please... be kind in the remarks... meaning don't laugh too much at me! LOL

(Hey, Hubby did when I told him over the phone! Thankfully it's actually kind of funny!!)

So, what... now I have to avoid steps in my slippers & dogs under my feet? Pretty soon I won't be able to move!!

Oh... on another note... We have NOW lost our insurance! Hubby's employer sent a letter telling him it was being canceled as of 28th of Feb... problem is, since his company employed less than 20... they don't have to offer Cobra. EEKS!!

& Hubby says with our conditions, it's going to be awful getting insurance now. (He has major asthma & I have... well, too many to list.)

Sooooo... we really need your prayers now. I know, I know... just about 1/2 the country is in the same boat.

Back to original topic...

Hmmm I can't remember... do I leave a scraped knee uncovered (no band-aid)?? Well, I cleaned the wounds with peroxide. I am going to leave the hand one open for now.

Oh & yeah... so much for my wonderful (NOT) neighbors!! Wonder if they even saw me lying there... or even heard me. GEESH! I almost called out to them to come help me... but with Coleman on the leash... & Sunny not... I just made sure I could move & decided to leave them out of it. Still... you'd think someone would have at least hollered over to me to make sure I was ok. Good grief!

Well, I'm off to go lick my wounds... (alright, not literally! Besides they already cleaned!)

Toodles!

My time for a...

How often do you frequent the front / home page (where the guest book is.) of your friends?? (Another reason I ask, is to bring attention that I've updated my home page a little... well, the "Welcome Message" that is.)

That's how I go to everyone's page.

 1

What someone has a home page?

 0

I just go right to the blogs via my inbox updates. I tend to forget about the home page.

 3

Once in a while I'll check out a friends front page.

 2

Why should I? I'm only interested in the blogs & reviews.

 1

What's a front / home page?

I'll leave a comment below.

Not much new going on with me. Just been sleeping, or working on sites, or doing house work.

I have booked my trip to Arizona (NOT UNTIL APRIL!) to see my dad. I was able to get a great deal by doing the "Name your own price" with Priceline. Only problem is I won't be on my preferred airline... where I have built up over 15,000 frequent flyer miles. I wanted to be able to add to that so I could get a discount ticket the next time... or have the miles saved up for if I ever needed to go in a hurry. Oh well... I can't look a "gift horse" in the mouth this time. I saved over 15% on my tickets.

Oh, there is one other problem... I could not go non-stop. On the way out, I will be stopping in Dallas on the way out & Chicago on the way home. My Texas layover is only about 40 minutes... not enough time for me to have a certain friend come to the airport to see me.
She knows who she is!! Sorry girl!! Besides to do that, I suspect I would have to go through security ... & being in a place I don't know, I wouldn't want to chance it. I guess I'll just have to give her a call when I arrive! :o)

The poll I have, is something I may have asked before... but I can't remember the results & I have more passengers now... so, time for an update in results. Also, I may start using my Welcome Message box as a "blast"... if there's enough that will view it, that is.

Well, the race (NASCAR) is on... And I need to fix supper here in a few... So, I guess that's it for now.

Toodles & Hugs!!
