Ok... I am fighting insomnia again... & Now since it's almost 7a (now almost 9a!!) & I'm still awake... I've decided to try to wait for a reply on something. Hopefully it will come across before I close my eyes.
Soooo... while I'm waiting, I thought I'd give the answers to my quiz. But I'll be posting the results later on. When I have time to go over them all. (Don't got & change your answers now... I'll know if you edited them!!)
Ok, here goes.... let's see how well you know Lady Harley...
If you didn't know me before... you will now!... At least a little bit about me... as you learn what some of the abbreviations / names & etc I use are!!!
Enjoy! :)
1. Who / what is $hiba? (Bonus, if you can say exactly what each letter stands for.)$hiba IS my laptop. I got her a year ago in February after I cashed in my 401k from the company that would not retrain me after I lost 10 years of my memory (including that job). We paid off my truck loan & bought $hiba.
Since she is a Toshiba laptop you would think that is the reason behind the name... sort of... but a little more...
Her full name is
$heer
Heavenly
Inspiration
By
Ability! (Yes, the dollar sign $ is in hopes one day she'll help me make money.... At the time I wasn't sure how... Now I know it will be working on my novels!!) The acronym was brought together by a couple good friends. (One that not around anymore & the other is Kitty!)
Also, just a fun fact that probably on Kitty would know... but I've also use the name Shiba for one of my avatars (called an ALT) on SL. (What is SL... well, check out answer #6!!!)
2. Who / what is SenCi? (Bonus if you remember what it's short for.)SenCi was the VERY old laptop I had gotten from my B.I.L. to help me while I was trying to find something to do after loosing my memory... (mainly because I was using JunkYard so much, I was keeping my hubby away from his computer. So, he got his brother to give me SenCi.) Which by the way stand for Senior Citizen. (Tell ya it was old... had Win98 on it!!!)
3. Who / what was Philly? This was the name I had given my hubby's computer before I knew he actually had it named JunkYard. (I only got that from looking at the monitor name & it was Phillips.) This name did not last long since JunkYard was the official name of that computer.
4. Who / what is JunkYard? As you can tell by answer #3... This is my hubby's computer. We shared it until I got SenCi... & even then I still used it a bit from time to time. Because it had XP on it.
I think he named it JunkYard from either some Pink Floyd song... or because it's made up of Pieces Parts. (That's my theory, anyway!)
He's since upgraded it to Vista (which he dreaded... but I think is now starting to see the light... that the new version is actually not all that hateful!... But he still is calling it JunkYard, because it's still the same case... just a few more pieces parts!!)
5. What is TLW?TLW stand for The Last Word... it's a WORD GAME group I started here on Multiply. It will be a ONE year old in a couple months! If you've not given it a try yet & can't find it in my groups... remind me to send you the link! (Or I may link later. too tired to do so right now.) I'll warn you... it's ADDICTIVE!! Ask any of the members! :)
6. What does SL stand for?SL is the abbreviation we use for the virtual simulation "game" / world called Second Life. As long as you pay attention to what you're doing... you can avoid some of the really nasty things that happen there. (Just like you can anywhere on the net.)
I only say this, because I lost a friend a while back because she found out what some members are doing on it. (Which I didn't know... but glad I do now, so I know how to avoid it.)
SL is great for when I need an escape from RL (Real Life!) I actually have a very nice SL Family there... & a few of them are here on Multiply too...
Let's see, there is
Smudges, she is now my Daughter... who tells me I am a Grandma (but haven't met this granddaughter of mine yet! & Don't know if she's here on Multiply)
KittyChile is my Sister... who is married (on SL) to...
Spooked (making him my brother-in-law... but I call him Bro!)...
Then
Katha... she is my Aunt... & her RL hubby (not sure if his name is known here or not.) but he's my Uncle.
We can't forget
DaddyK aka Kartor!
And there's few others... but they're either "alt's" (which is alternate) or I just haven't met them yet.
We have a blast there... we go virtual shopping... they're is even dances we attend. Lots of different ways to RP (Role Play)... but most of all I enjoy hanging out with some of the family at our family bonfire... & just chat the night away.
We are just as goofy on SL as we are here!
(ok, moving on...)
7. What is B.I.L. short for?Well, I'm not the only one who's used this term, I don't think. It stands for Brother-in-Law. I also sometimes abbreviate it like BiL.
8. What is M.I.L. short for? (Hint, related to #7.) ;)
So, figure this one out then? Yep, that would be Mother In Law! :o) She's a great one... can't complain a bit!! Love her to pieces!! (Also sometimes abbreviated MiL.)
9. Who is JG? (I may have only used J before. & this I just need the person's title, not name, because I've not shared the name.)This was tough, because I may have only talked about this one in my private diary blog... & I think I was only using J... & it wasn't enough for me, so I changed it to JG.
Oh, yeah... who is it? It's my Step-Mom... which I guess that's not too hard to write... but it was easier for me to say JG for some reason. She's nice too! :)
10. What is TOTs?This is my adaptation for Thoughts On Thursday... for when I forget to do TTT (Ten Thoughts on Tuesday) ... I use ToTs so that I can use as little or as many thoughts as I want. Why not? It's my blog!
11. Who is Cola? (There are 2 right answers for this... I'll accept either or both. Though I don't think anyone knows both... only one or the other, I think!) :o)
This is my pet Koala on WebKinz. (I was addicted for a time to that... I still go & play every once in awhile... but not as often.)
Also, I have a "shoulder pet" in SL that is a Koala also & her name is Cola as well.
Maybe I should change my name to ColaHarley instead of LadyHarley!! LOL!!! :o)
(I can't... have too MANY things registered with LH already!!!)
12. Who is Sunny? (This should be easy!) Yes, this is one of my doggies. I'll post pictures later!! :o)
(Jo, I loved your answer!! That was hilarious!!)
13. Who is Coleman? (Another easy one!)This is my other doggie... he's my baby!! I'll link up there blog here later too... there's a story on it on how he got his name! (Yeah from the Coleman coolers.)
14. What does WX stand for? This is a typical broadcasting abbreviation for WEATHER. It's not widely known... but probably will be soon because Stephanie Abrams from TWC uses it a lot on Twitter.
(I knew it because I went to broadcasting school... & was a "on air" radio personality for a short time. Nothing big. Thought for sure that was my calling... but it didn't pan out. Now I know WRITING is my true gift & calling!!)
15. How about TWC? (it's "related" to #14.)If you didn't get this yet... this stands for The Weather Channel. If you live here in the states... they have been on the air for more than 25 years. They are the leading authority on severe weather coverage. I enjoy them so much because they do the best they can to liven things up while they inform you of the forecast.
Also, with people like Stephanie Abrams & Mike Bettes, (just a couple of many I could name) you learn a lot about weather!
Mike Bettes in involved right now in the Vortex2 project (another link for me to add later)... It is the greatest, biggest involved TORNADO HUNT project ever! Over 100 meteorologists, 10 to 12 Doppler's on wheels & OH SO MUCH more!!
Stephanie is a live one & the two of them together make a wonderful team! (I sure hope when this project is over that they don't break them up!!!)
(Again, moving on...)
16. Hubby stands for what? (oh, that's just too easy! LOL)Uh... did anyone miss this? Yes, this is my HUSBAND!!! :o)
17. Who is DM? (Again, don't need the name... just the person's title. & this is a tough one... for I think I have only mentioned them once... or twice... & maybe only in my private diary blogs that some of you have access to.)This was just another general "title" (name initials, really)... it's for my hubby's best friend / buddy. I really didn't want to put hubby's BF... because I really don't like that term anyway. Can't use BB (for best buds) because that stand for something else in someone else's blog... & I never know when I'll have a friend with the initials BB.) :o)
18. What group is UFC? (Too easy for the members!) If you haven't been to one of my stories I've written recently... This stand for:
The United Friends Challenge group.
It's where other members take turns posting a writing challenge & when we feel inspired we answer it, blog it on our personal blog & it's then linked to the challenge. If we set the challenge, then we must rise up & answer our own!
We have gained many new authors in the past several months... & there have been a great number of challenges presented. However, I haven't done one until today, because I just wasn't in the "right mind set".
I'm hoping that these challenges will help me to continue writing my novels!!
I tell you this, it's a great mind exercise! If you're a creative writer... check the group out. (Again, link coming later!) :o)
19. If I say it's 9 chimes... what does that mean? I'm looking for something specific.Yes, it would be 9:00... & could be 9a or 9p... it's when I hear my new grandfather clock chiming... I didn't want to put x# chimes in there, because I wasn't sure if it would make sense. I only mentioned it maybe once since I have gotten my clock. (Still in shock over that 40th birthday gift from my mom & my son!)
Also, because if you read any of my Tweets from my Twitter badge on my home page... I may refer to that once in a while there as well. (So, see this is also a lesson for future use too!!) :o)
Ok, here goes... last one...
20. What is CM? (Uh... were you paying attention??)Now if anyone was really paying close attention... you would have known this from the blog prior to the one I posted the quiz one. And I've talked about it a lot recently...
CM stands for Chiari Malformation. It is a condition that produces some nasty headaches, among other problems. (Chronic Depression being another.) Please bear with me... I will find the links later... or you can peruse my blog list to find other times I've talked about this.
Each time I have a major headache, I really don't feel like typing out the whole name... so, I abbreviate it to just CM!! It IS A SERIOUS problem!! It is said to be rare... but the more that doctors recognize it & become more aware of it... I bet it will no longer be "rare".
I have a theory that most migraine sufferers actually have CM... & I bet if they did a little research & had the test done... they would find that they do! And IF anyone tries to tell you that CM is no big deal... Look at them & say... THAT IS A LIE... to just cover your own behind so you don't have to deal with it, because it deals with the brain!!!
Yes, if it's severe enough, you could have to have brain surgery... but the more research I've done... I've found that they don't actually mess with your brain... they move the base of your skull a bit to relieve the pressure. (Called "decompression surgery") It's risky, because it is close to your brain and your nerves! So, that's why many doctors just sweep it under the rug!! Mainly because they don't know enough! That's why IF you have it... or SUSPECT you have it... you need to see a SPECIALIST!! & The best are in NYC!!
If my hubby hadn't lost his insurance... I'd probably be working my way to get an appointment with them. Now I have to wait to see what happens with his job situation... or my Social Security Disability. (Which by the way... CM is a DEBILITATING disease!! For you never know when you'll be struck with pain... & never know how severe it will be.)
Ok... I have to get down off my soap box... & save this for another blog, some day soon! Because I want to provide you all with many links on this... & I am still thinking of starting another group... a Chiari Awareness group here on Multiply... for we Chiarians (as we're called) need the support of others... We need help with suggestions from others who suffer, to know how to alleviate symptoms... & so on... so on... (someone push me off this soap box, please!!)
Anyway... That's mainly the abbreviations & etc that I use or will be using a lot... Here are a few more that I want to remind you of...
Mike (my 19yr son... 20 in September... GOLLY!!!)
Gina (my sister & my editor (if we ever get things going!))
Aloys (a BiL, Gina's Hubby)
Renee (My other sister... I'm the youngest, she's the oldest of us 3 girls)
Steve (another BiL, Renee's Hubby)
Sarah (my beautiful niece, Renee & Steve's oldest.)
Stevie (my nephew, who has Cerebral Palsy & Renee & Steve's oldest son.)
MattMan (my nick name for my nephew, Renee & Steve's youngest son.)
and then there is
Grammy, sometime referred to just as Grandma... This is who Gina & Aloys live with because they take care of her because she is 90 years old with Alzheimer's'.
Now... one last abbreviation... this is from my childhood & something that my dad will enjoy... CCMIC.... Can anyone take a guess at what it is? I'll give you a hint... it's a food item!! & If you really know me... you may be able to figure it out!!! I'll give you a couple days to think on it!!
Wow... that took a lot longer that I thought it would to get them answers out... but, I was on a roll & thought you deserved to know the story behind it all!
So... I hope you enjoyed your "mini" rides that turn into one nice long trip on...
this thing we call....
